We do have a history of head coaches with the initials DD who previously were head coaches at West Virginia.

Our good friend, who of course led the team after the Kelvin Sampson fiasco, spent a week as the Mountaineers' head coach in 2007.

This does make me feel better about DeVries.  Ready to roll if he's the guy.

Plus his son got hurt and was out all year. Tough to lose a 20+ ppg player for the year

Solid

This begs the same question I posed yesterday regarding Archie vs McCollum … is this more or less solid than McCollums resume?   Devries has made the tourney 3 times and don’t think he’s won a tourney game.  McCollum obviously DOMINATED D2.

I can see the argument for both sides. So basically a Rabjohns response.

Nobody has to start begging for DeVries or Collins or whomever but please note that the folks ‘round here who are plugged in, watch a lot of hoops, and will dig deep on a candidate pretty much universally agree they make sense and are good coaches.

I think it’s totally fair to criticize but please bring something substantive, not just grumbling about how famous someone isn’t.

I’m concerned he has the same initials as Dan Dakich

Devries would be a legitimate let down. He's not a big fish by any stretch.

I wouldn't be rushing out to get new gear, I know that.

If you bought into the hype that IU was going to hire Brad Stevens or Jay Wright or any other established “big fish”….that’s on you. Kentucky and Louisville told you this was going to be the case. It was never going to happen no matter how many different gifs and encrypted messages were sent by a select few posters.

If it is DeVries you are clearly discounting RonMexico’s contributions to this board haha.  Jk but not really .

You did mention DeVries a while ago before anybody else.  I'd give you credit, not that that matters much around here, lol.

I find it so hilarious that the chatter for Darian was so minimal last week compared to Brownell. Now that WVU didn't make the tournament, he's the new Brownell but slightly more accepted here.

I repeatedly said I'd believe Stevens when I saw it, but whatever.

This may not age well....but we'll see. I'll be happy with anyone no named Brad Brownell at this point.

So, without his son, he's ****? If thats the case, we are putting too much stock in the dude other than what he did at Drake....and I will say McCollum much more impressive run at Drake...and he does not have to worry about his son being on the team

There is still no legit confirmation that Devries is the choice. He would be a really good choice, but he may not be the choice.

I do think that in the next 36 hours, Devries will announce that he has signed a WVU extension, is leaving for Iowa, or is leaving for IU.

I also think that IU announces our choice within the next 48 hours, which means it's Devries, Collins, or some really famous guy.

@Tony! Toni! Toné! has always been on the big fish train.  I would not hate DD (similar categories as UK and L'ville hires) but keeping on eye on the big fish seems to be a good idea.

Maybe his new wife won’t make him quit when the AD is rude to her like WVU.
