Listen to McCollum and if you think he is even close to Brownell then you need your head examined.  If he is our fall back position then we are in a way better position than with Brownell.

Not referring to you specifically, but some on here call everything delusional that comes from people that share what they hear. Posters act like those that share are just lying for their own egos. I'm just glad that Stuhoo shared what he shared so that people see that others DO have information that is credible that hasn't been shared by the media.

I don’t think anyone here is lying.  I think people are playing the telephone game & are taking indications the search is going well from people that really don’t know anything & running with it.  Don’t blame them for sharing, but some(by no means all)are misrepresenting their level of certainty…

There is a group that is skeptical of the positive rumors (again, fair enough), but then some of them turn around and create quite the negative narrative out of thin air themselves.  It's a free board, so people can do whatever they want, I just don't think we know enough to get negative either.

Waiting stinks, but as of now it's hard to get very positive or very negative.  That's just my view, people may disagree that's cool.

Nature abhors a vacuum... when there's a lack of information, people tend to fill the void with whatever they can glean from hints, hearsay and rumors... and when our recent (past 10-12 years) hires are as underwhelming as they have been, the expectations tend to trend negative... the "we can't have nice things" meme grows legs and we spin...

This is where we need a dose of positivity and hope. Keep the faith!

BM seems like a unicorn. He’s not leaving Drake for money or to move up a level. Has to be the right fit for him and his family.

• For the Woody hire, about three days before the hire @8bucks, a wonderful poster who never gets over his skis, had the hire nailed -- through Woodson family acquaintances I believe. He told me but didn't want the attribution or grief on the open board so I posted that the info came from a credible, anonymous source about three days before Woody was announced. There was a meltdown and a "how do YOU know more than the insiders" string of pushback, as there should have been. And then it happened.
• For Cig, if I remember correctly his name wasn't really mentioned until a day or two before he was announced. When his name was suddenly thrown into the mix @Lebowski started singing the praises really strongly, and pretty much everybody was then was a fan of his take (because he knows more football than many of us ever will). A day or two after the board had it as a strong possibility, the announcement came.

Just for clarity, I pimped Coach Cig pretty early on during the discussions in the thread. He was a pipe dream at that point, because you know, the misery of being an IUFB faithful was a strong and deep darkness that warshed over us. Darker n' a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night. There was no bottom. 

For me with that hire, it was about finding an established coach that had program building success and would leave the program in good shape for the next hire. Someone that had experience of taking a losing program and turning it around quickly.  Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think IUFB would be playing in the CFP on year one, or ever for that matter. But man, I've completely changed on that kind of thinking. Us IUFB faithful should always be thinking CFP Natty. Always.

An Iowa guy who was born in Iowa City who is happy to be home now moves to Indiana? It could happen, I don't see it. Family is everything, ask Brad Stevens that.

Serious question for the brain trust because I ignore DD in all forms. Does he usually have coaches on for chats on whatever that website is? Seems kinda odd all things considered and the IU job being open. Maybe I am reading too much in the tea leaves, but I also do not know if a tournament bound coach talking to DD is normal.

I’ve sort of convinced myself the guy Dolson has been pursuing since January is McCollum. Sounds like it’s known he’s wanted Iowa and it’s a fact he’s selective about changing schools. Hopefully Dolson has been working him and able to close him. Still think the Goodman tweet was instigated by McCollum likely so he can get best and final offers from both schools then choose this week… JMO

I don’t know that Billy D or Jay Wright are even on anyone’s actual list. I think Jay is happy retired and doing broadcasting and away from the NIL. I don’t know if Billy would want to come back to the college game or not.

 

IMO it’s Stevens or McCollum.
