  1. Kyle Taber - Idk how many people outside the #iubb circle realize how much the fans needed to see a game like this. A neutral court high major opponent early in the season and a team that’s doing all the things previous ones weren’t. So so pleasing to see.

  2. There were some signs from Jasai Miles today that intrigued me. He really moved his feet well on defense—seems like even though he came here as a scorer, he’s tentative on that end; looking to avoid mistakes. But he showed signs of athleticism and effort today and he could be reinvented as a multi-positional swing man. Until today the game has looked way too fast for him; today it appeared to slow down just a little.

  3. I can't like your post enough. A few years back when we got our doors blown off by UConn at the Empire Classic, I was sat right next to their bench. They were engaged the entire time. Their trainer running jumping around the end of the bench and even talking some smack to me in an IU shirt. The contrast with the IU bench was so stark. And it was always like that. Not even lackadaisical... but asleep (sometimes literally). This staff is super engaged like UConn's and good college staffs. There was one point today, can't remember which part of the game, where we were hustling on D and the staff got on their feet cheering. Then all IU fans did the same and it really lifted the team. Love that we have a veteran group of players in year 1. And a highly professional coaching staff to lead them.

  4. Coach managed the foul trouble about as well as anyone could reasonably ask.

  5. Program is headed in the right direction. I closely watched the assistant coaches near the end of the game and all of them appeared to be wide awake!! Quite refreshing vs the last few years.

  6. SIAP but 8 assists and 2 steals by Wilkerson to go with his 23 points, most of which came in the 2nd half. That’s the guy who shined out here for SHSU — special player. Devries went all in for him— and landed a Hell of a plater

  10. Man so glad we got this guy. The possibility of being a real program is right there for the taking. A great coach a football powerhouse boosting the reach of the university.

  11. That moment when a fellow Hoosier says to you "Awesome game this weekend!" and you respond with "Which sport?"

  12. When the lead got cut to 10 and DDV called timeout, I immediately thought "how nice to have a coach that calls timeout before the lead is blown" ... we stopped the bleeding and got it back up to 16 pretty quickly. Delighted with what we're seeing so far. Style of play is going to give us a chance to win games we may not supposed to on paper.

  13. Field of 68 Goodman and Dauster post-win show. Most of this video is an on-air with Lamar. Our SG is one hell of a smooth, funny, guy. Great interview! https://youtu.be/erEZe87ZYO0?si=vVagkmTA8mhbYFUg

  14. So much more enjoyable to be on the receiving end of this kind of talk. Probably even putting more salt in their wounds because we've historically been so bad and a doormat for many of our opponents and now we're kicking a$$ big time. The days of IU being an automatic win are over.

  15. It’s been said on here already, but it can’t be said enough. The throw was just barely less believable than the catch. I mean, what on earth?

  18. Listened to it on the radio while running errands today off an on, in and out of my truck. Sounds like we really hammered there defense and broke them down. Our 3 point shooting was money and we picked up a lot of fouls. To me dropping 100 on a team that is well coached and been very good for a while now…you would have never saw this with the last 2 coaches. I think we got the right guy!

  20. Indiana opens as a 30.5-point favorites against Wisconsin this weekend, per @BetMGM. Our undefeated Hoosiers host Wisky (3-6) (1-5) and 0-3 on the road. Televised on basic BTN. After this game, we have a bye week and on Friday night the 28th we embarrass PUke at West Laffy. Radio - Varsity Network Radio - WHCC105 .

  22. I apparently can't post the YouTube link because the title has an emoji in it... but Field of 68 has an interview with Wilkerson after yesterday's game. The title of the video quotes Lamar saying "We can play with ANYBODY" Assembly Hall is going to have some great moments this year. DDV told the team they had a bad defensive game because they kept letting Marquette get two feet in the paint, we didn't guard as well as we could've. We can be a great defensive team because our team knows you have to be tough to go into battle and win. That's pretty much the gist of the interview.

  23. I can understand that. Those childhood memories come rushing back thinking back to his father which happens to me sometimes when I find something in the garage of his or my mother's. I just don't get a chance to show it on a major television network.

    2025 IUFB Season

I think a few, but despite his flaws EJ still has a ton of talent/experience and has had some big games this year. We’ll need him in the playoffs*. *I still can’t believe I’m saying something like that without a qualifying statement.

  25. this is an AI slop article just fyi. There's a ton of them being posted about sports by fake facebook accounts just looking for engagement. My general rule is if it doesn't come from an IU beat reporter, it ain't real.

  26. Seemed odd that he wasn't in uniform and didn't do any pre-game warmups after having done so at our home opener. But I haven't seen anything that suggests any kind of a setback for him. Maybe learn more during tonight's radio show with Fisch.

  30. I was also very impressed with the sportsmanship demonstrated by Fischer when helped the PSU quarterback off the turf after the desperation throw. That expression of respect for the opponent is missing far too often these days. I have grandkids involved in youth sports and way too often the lack of sportsmanship is glaring. And more often than not the parents are the worst. I wouldn't expect anything less from a player who Cignetti brings into the program. Winning is important but doing it the right way is more important. Congrats to a fine young man.

  32. Any program in any sport anywhere?? Nope. Resources, foundation, facilities, general program recognition, media coverage/tv/web, recruiting base— connections to HS/AAU coaches/programs. Your perception of IU as the opposite of whatever special is, is crazy negative, couldn’t be less true. We’ve been run to ground by Miller and Woody, clearly. While you choose to deflect and ignore it, that Crean was able to do what he did - B1G championships and multiple SW16 runs despite being a mediocre coach is directly due to his “it’s Indiana” mantra. He rebuilt the program from nothing after Sampsongate into a successful program because of what IU is. Now we have what I think is clearly a strong HC/basketball mind and staff again, and because of IU’s historical program stature, resources, facilities etc and all that comes with it, the path “back” is right there, not just “any” program anywhere. That’s not rose colored glasses, that’s reality

  33. A few nuggests from today's presser from Cig Indiana LG Drew Evans will be "a few more weeks" as he aims to return from injury. LG Adedamola Ajani got the start over Zen Michalski because Michalski got banged up in practice. Michalski was able to play, but Cignetti stuck with Ajani because he got the reps in practice during the week. Cignetti: "I did get a little choked up there at the end, just because I was so proud of our guys." Cignetti says emotion also came from his memories of State College through his dad: "My first time in that stadium was 1971, and I was back in that stadium every two years for 15, 16 years. I can tell you a lot of long rides home, and not a lot of happy rides home." "Sarratt is day-to-day right now..." will know more as week goes on.

  34. Pg. 22 about the NIL Talent Acquisition and win probabilities for PSU losses is staggering. 4 of their losses (NW, Indiana, Iowa, UCLA?) combined where PSU goes 0-4 is like .0005% chance

  37. He seems to have bought in to his role. The small amount of minutes he gets he plays very hard. Could end up being a solid contributor, which would be a testament to this staff and their ability to develop.

  39. Including the exhibition, we’ve now played two teams that historically have long athletic squads and acquitted ourselves well in both. Wilkerson, Alexis and Tucker are obvious B1G level players. Enright was always going to get by on toughness and grit. Conerway and Bailey have struggled a little in each game, but I’ve seen enough to feel comfortable that they should be able to compete even if they get picked on defensively at times. Sisley probably falls in the latter category too even though he played well today. We play in a league where guys like Martenelli and Loyer are major pieces. Anthony Leal was one of the best defenders last year. There’s just not that many squads full of NBA plus-level athletes that could potentially overwhelm us. I worry about depth a little. Thought it might hurt us yesterday with the foul trouble. Rebounding will probably be a struggle. Not bad yesterday but they definitely got some easy putbacks.

  42. Seeing how the staff has a plan for integrating young players - Becker, Landino, Hardy, Ndukwe, Bond, etc. - has been a masterclass in program development. I am sure Cig and Staff will hit the portal hard this offseason by necessity to fill the doughnut hole in Junior & Sophomore class depth, but I dont expect that to be the case moving forward.

  43. Also, we won't have NET rankings for another month, but a 23 point neutral site win is going to look real nice on our team sheet, even if Marquette doesn't turn out to be anything special.

  44. He almost single-handedly saved the IU athletics. He's arguably the most important figure in IU sports by bringing in coach Cig and coach DeVries. Something that had never been done by any former AD.

  45. I agree. Talent matters and Coach Smith got them to believe that they could win the game. Being at home was a huge relief to PSU. Our lack of quality depth was exposed some in this game. With Cignetti we'll get there in terms of talent but it's going to take a few cycles. Fortunately, Coach Cignetti is really good at identifying talent in the portal. I would be shocked if PSU doesn't win the last three games on their schedule. We need very badly to get as healthy as possible before we get to the playoffs.

  47. We are elite but thin for sure. We need more depth everywhere. So when we get into a punchers match with a team with NFL talent we aren’t at a disadvantage. The offensive line not being able to handle and let the offense control the game hurt for sure as well. Cigs project last offseason seemed to be to get all our positions capable of going toe to toe with the big boys. This offseason need to build the bench

  48. Went to the game yesterday and Hoosier fans were out in full force. Seemed about 75% IU fans and 25% Marquette. The offense was a thing of beauty to watch, sets to consistently get our best shooters open looks and smart drives to the basket. I'm so happy to see a modern offense finally and not the constant long two point shots. First time since the Yogi's senior season that we have been actually fun to watch on offense other than when TJD would have to take over games by himself. Amazing what coaching and some shooters can do.

  49. I don't know the overall scheme but if I had to guess, Becker was the WR left with the best matchups. I'm assuming both Coop and Williams had a lot of attention in the coverages? Honestly, no clue though.
