https://www.si.com/college/indiana/basketball/sam-alexis-suffer-terrible-indiana-basketball-hoosiers-devries-williams-miley-florida-gators Really nice article on Sam Alexis. Really nice. There are just a bunch of high character kids on this team. No entitlement at all. We’ll see how good they turn out to be but it’s been a minute since there’s been a roster around here this easy to root for.10 points

I have consistently been accused of being negative. I hated Crean, Archie and Woodson. And wasn’t afraid of going on record with stating the reasons. I love the DD hire and am very confident. I fully expect our Kenpom rating to up after 10 games not down. DD is the kind of guy that gets more out of his team than the sum of the individual parts. That doesn’t show up in advanced analytics till the games start getting played. Recruiting well then not knowing how to use it is how you get the ole start mid and fade in the advance analytics under our last 3 regimes.6 points -

Season opener Wednesday evening televised on basic BTN. Last year's A&M team finished 10-22. It's roster consists of 11 redshirt juniors or seniors so there is a lot of college level experience on the team. Next Sunday our Hoosiers face Marquette in Chicago at 1:00 ET with the game televised on ESPN. Radio Live Stats5 points -

At first glance, true. But... That team also had a sophomore Tamar Bates, who went on to be very good at Missouri. It also had freshmen Kaleb Banks and CJ Gunn, who did very well at Tulane and DePaul respectively. They've reunited at DePaul and will be interesting to see how Banks does. It also had upperclassmen who were solid enough like Race and Kopp. Freshman Reneau was okay in small doses. Galloway was a junior. Leal was there but seldom played. Seems more like there was plenty of talent that was poorly utilized IMO. Many people expected a S16 that year. 23-12, #4 seed and a blow out second round exit... I think was a fair expectation for that roster. And I think they achieved what little they did despite of – not because of – their coaching staff. JMO3 points -

This ^^^^ . I am continually laughing at the usual SEC pundits who keep pumping up the large number of wins against "ranked conference" opponents; frequently listing TENN among them. Do they not realize TENN has yet to beat a team with a winning conference record? E. Tenn St. (2-3), Syr (1-5), UAB (1-3), Miss St. (1-4), Ark (0-5), and UK (1-5). WOW, too bad IU didn't whoop up on TENN this season so they could have another high quality win. Sure, TENN has played GA, ALA, and OK but they have not managed a win over any of them and therefore should not be considered a "quality" win for any of those teams. TENN = Rutgers this season.3 points -

Jakai must be hurt ... again :( A lesson that almost all already know to be taken from these largely very successful opening nights for former Hoosiers (of note, Kanaan Carlyle was 4-8 from 3pt!): The coachand coaching staff matters; a ton. If we had given last year's roster to Devries, the results would have likely been incredibly different. If CDD is the guy, worrying about the roster will fade as a concern.3 points -

Alabama A&M beat Blue Mountain Christian College last night 80 - 60. From the below link: James Graham III finished with 18 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, along with five rebounds and one block Peyton Daniels Sr. recorded 18 points (three shy of tying a career high), six boards and one assist PJ Eason led the way on the glass with nine boards. Sparty up 3 over Colgate at half. Izzo should have called Cuse to how scheduling Colgate has worked out for them the last couple years. Colgate had won 2 of the last 3 against them I think3 points -
I would disagree. That was a team with some veterans, including TJD who is an NBA player and statistically one of the best players in IU history. They added some talented freshmen, including lottery pick JHS. In other words, overall a veteran team with 2 NBA players. 8 of their 12 losses came by 11+ points. Instead of looking at it as an overachievement, it looks pretty much like the opposite to me. They also started the year at 48 in KenPom and finished at 50. Not as big of a drop as other Woodson teams, but a drop nonetheless. Preseason 13th in the AP poll and 14th in the AP poll, peaking at 10 and 8, respectively. So, at best, it could be viewed as meeting expectations, in my opinion, although I think they underachieved.2 points

Yeah, Mockobee is 812 through and through. I got to see him play during high school. I wasn't the least bit surprised of his success. Coincidently, the guy replacing him, Antonio Harris, is another 812 kid from the same county and a 'cross town' rival (although that rivalry has been dormant for years). To my understanding it's picking back up in 2026. A lot of similarities with paths, both preferred walk-ons. I got see a ton of Harris play high school. Harris pretty much played wherever he was needed (WR, RB, QB, and some FS). Both guys were studs in high school and fit the Coach Cig mold of production over potential.2 points -

Love the responses! I expect a lot of red and for it to get ugly fast. Probably going to get there around 4:00 and just prepay for a lot near Ross-Ade. Again, only been there once but it seems like a dump. Mackey Arena is kind of cool. I think it's incredibly random it's the NBC primetime game on Black Friday, especially since this decision was made in the offseason. Kind of nice the Bucket game hasn't been the noon BTN game for a few years. OT: Don't forget their coach was running his mouth about Cig this off-season. I hope it's worse than 66-0.2 points -

There is a correlation with Bob Bostad not being a Wisconsin coach. During his tenure there, every big boy O-line prospect became a Badger. They even stole Joe Tippman, starting Jets center, and from my high school, FWBD. Now that he’s the Hoosiers’ O-line coach the quality of athletes, the quality of performance, has improved dramatically. Wisconsin no longer has the talent to dominate the run game.2 points -
