  1. I get the same uneasy feeling as you, just from the historical aspect of it and looking at the seasons in general. But then when you start thinking about the game being played on the field...their offense is only somewhat dangerous when they can run the ball, which we're elite at stopping. They can't throw AT. ALL. If they're stuck playing in 3rd and medium/long all day they'll be in hell. They also don't stop the run worth a crap either, which...we do pretty well. A sleepy Beaver Stadium against a team that we match up pretty well with? I feel pretty good.

  2. As we start this college basketball season just wanted to say thanks in advance to all that will drop in this thread all year and make viewing college basketball even better. Not sure how long we have been doing in this thread I just know it’s part of my college basketball watching experience. If you are new to here and love all college basketball jump on in and post with us about all the games. With the football team kicking butt some might be late to party in here this year but we will keep the light on for you. Let’s have a good year hoops junkies. @johnsoniu do you have an early morning bet on the first game to kick off the year?

    Bucket Game Questions

Spend as little time in West Lafayette as possible. Disinfect and defumigate all clothing immediately upon leaving. During the game? Alternate between cheering heartily and laughing loudly. Do not look at Purdue players - they have a pertrifying Medusa-style effect that can turn onlookers to stone.

  10. Indiana/Penn State will give FOX a bigger viewing number, but there are better storylines at Oregon/Iowa since they just had us a couple weeks ago. Or maybe the BNK semi driver refused the horrific drive up to State College.

  11. Women on the road at #19 Penn State and take a straight set win! First ever win for the squad at Penn State. Women are now on a 3-game winning streak and all 3 wins have been via straight sets. They're back in Bloomington Friday night to host Iowa and then at Wisconsin on Sunday.

  15. I agree. I think going into the first year of revenue share and not knowing how this clearing house stuff will shake out, it makes more sense being conservative with freshman. Right now it's clear portal players have more value. But, I'm not sure where the true value lays for freshman under this landscape. I think right now some of these numbers seem a bit high. And desperate schools like OSU with mediocre coaches are willing to pay. You can't out talent bad coaching. Woody proved that and we paid a lot of money with poor results.

    2025 IUFB Season

I hear what you're saying and I've had that same thought. However, Boise State and ASU (undeservingly) getting byes also messed up the rest of the seeding so Oregon and Georgia played better teams in the second round than they would have with proper seeding. Those two played the two teams that eventually met in the finals. I remember the discussions about how getting a 5 or 6 seed last year might be better than getting a bye. Crazy. The point is, it should be to a team's advantage to get a bye, and it should be this year.

  18. I see the appeal of avoiding a long layoff, but with the way the injuries have been adding up, an extra few weeks to heal physically would be nice. I trust this coaching staff (over many others) to have them mentally prepared even with a longer break.

  27. I have concerns for this game. We've never won at Beaver. This is PSU's last chance to salvage something from this season and build toward the future. PSU still has more talent (according to stars) and if they put it together for 1 game can really be a problem. The staff and players for PSU are going to throw everything they got at IU. The one thing that makes me think it may be alright is that this game is at noon and some of their homefield advantage could be despondent at this point. Hope I'm wrong about everything and we beat the **** out of them but I wouldn't be surprised to be in a dog fight and even potentially lose this one.

  32. I imagine you’re right about DeVries defending some 5’s and holding up because they would limit it to some niche situations and he wouldn’t be playing 10 mins at a time on a real post scorer. Ant Wright wrote the other day, and I hope he’s wrong, that he thinks at some point in the year Sisley will be the starting 4 in place of Enright and DeVries would be playing on the wing. Don’t love that at all. Against any legit wing scorer that can put it on the floor that feels like foul trouble. Against a kid like Carr the other day he would have had no shot. That’s why I am super hopeful that when he’s ready Dorn is good enough to give them real minutes. They really need a longer wing option.

  35. We could theoretically play in the Big Ten championship game, lose, and still not get a CFP bye at 11-2. Conference championship games are pointless and I’m fine not playing in it.

  36. I doubt we get a top 4 seed if we don’t go to the championship game. So either way should be about the same gap in time between games

  37. I’d love to get a shot in Indy, but man that bye before the CFP might be worth its weight in gold too. I don’t imagine a 4-way tie for the B1G would hurt our seeding too much.

  38. Ok since I’m incapable of not thinking about worst case scenarios, what happens if we lose to PSU (I know, just win baby) and end up 11-1? For a spot in Indy, possible 1 loss teams, we have the tiebreaker covered against Iowa and Oregon. I believe we have the tiebreaker covered against USC with record against common opponents being 5-0 to their 4-1. Assuming the Iowa/Oregon/USC round robin about to happen ends with all three taking another L, The one scenario I can’t quite work out is if Michigan beats OSU and it’s us and those 2 with 1 loss. UM obviously has the tiebreaker against OSU, and I think OSU would have the tiebreaker against us with record against common opponents. With Michigan, we both have 1 loss and would be 4-0 against common opponents. I think it would come down to their win over OSU vs our win vs Oregon. Everyone still with me here? Cool. So, what if Oregon is also at 1 loss? My brain breaks at this point. It could come down to who is our 2nd best win vs. Michigan’s 2nd best. But also as I type this I’m realizing Oregon would also have the tiebreaker over Michigan by common opponent record and their win over USC. So that 4 way tie of 1 loss teams, I don’t know, does that come down the conference winning percentage of all opponents? Sheesh. Disclaimer: high likelihood I have something wrong here.

  44. I think. Bailey will be good in certain matchups but the B1G athletes with size and guards digging down on his high dribble are gonna put him in a world of hurt. I can see the vision with him but man, not getting a legit defensive Center is still haunting me.
