Regardless of how bad we shot in the last 6-8 minutes, Darren needs to let out a rant at how dogs**t calls changed the game. Think of the 10K or whatever it costs now to call out amateur officiating not as a fine, but as an investment if you wanna be at IU for more than a cup of coffee. The pieces we are bringing in next year aren’t even close to the level we need to jump up a level. Portal will be critical. Same was said for this season. You probably thought this roster was carefully crafted. The Murphy, Moikobi(sp) thing cost a year of what could've been a better roster. I wasn't a DeVries guy, but I think he's done really well considering the MVC caliber talent he has to work with.There isn't anyone in street clothes on that bench that can help us. He needs to tweak the staff a bit. I'm sure the portal wish list is being put together and back channeling has started. I squint and see 19 wins. That's good. We can get a jump on things. Just finished watching Michigan vs Wisconsin with Wisconsin won . Why are they getting better ( both of these teams ) and we are hot one night cold another one .At home is so disappointing . I see the schedule and and don't see many wins ,Thinking unless things change no games after the season is done. Quote

Such a disappointing start to the DeVries era. I like DeVries. Obviously a more modern offense and I've been pleasantly surprised with how good our defense is given our pieces. I think he has a chance to end up being a good hire. With that said and you've been beating this drum, he is going to have to find a way to hit a grand slam in the portal this off-season. We can't do another year of being a fringe bubble team. 10 years of this is ridiculous for this program (not DeVries fault) and he won't be able to sustain missing the tournament his first two years. Like you, I just get concerned on whether DeVries will have the resources and/or the cache to beat out 15-20 other programs for top portal talent.
