Zero chance he threatened the type of people he needed to secure that kind of money on top of profit share. I know nothing but I’m guessing Ferguson didn’t lose his access for supporting his buddy. Also very little chance that he convinced them in 72 hours. That was my main point. If, and it’s an if, the numbers are accurate, that didn’t happen in a 72 hour vacuum. JMO Not certain how “successful” one would define our athletic department over the past 20 years, albeit this past year in football as an exception. Especially true in our premier bball program. If you don’t think the folks responsible for forcing Woody in the first place, and in particular demanding a 4th year — and fully funding it…don’t feel some semblance of culpability for the failure…then it’s beyond reason. You’re correct, they’re not going to hard ball (threaten in you’re terms) them to cough up again…but they certainly could sweet talk them, and even say — thanks for your support, we haven’t been successful and here’s what we need to in order to be. To postulate that it was a done deal long ago and they were all in on it again…with…Devries, nonetheless isn’t true. The money was there, Devries wasn’t. Quote

HoosierInParadise Posted March 19 Posted March 19 5th choice, says it all. Such incompetence by Scott to let it fall apart like this. Is this guy a top 10 coach in the country? Top 20? Top 50? We need to start to realize what we are. Outdated. Old. Forgotten. Irrelevant. Just an embarrassing day for Indiana Basketball. It will be fine. You're not wrong that we are outdated, old, forgotten, and irrelevant. That is what losing for this long and making bad hires along the way does to a program. Big names don't want to come here. I am hopeful that IU can get back to the basics with CDD. If he can win from the get go all is well. We needed an enormous upgrade in the team culture department. If CDD instills a good culture and play winning basketball, he has all the tools to be super successful. I'm liking the hire more as I watch stuff on him. jonz44, DSUMMITT, DougWil and 2 others 5 Quote

madmax Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I will fully admit to him not being my top choice of the realistic candidates - that would be Ben McCollum. Despite that, I think that this has a higher % chance to work out then any of our hires since RMK was fired given who coach DVB is and our current lot in life with NIL, etc. Time will tell. jonz44, 94Bulldog, tkbbn and 2 others 5 Quote

Corollary to that should be these dudes don’t get super sensitive when questioned. You’ve been consistently wrong for awhile, just take your lumps and laugh it off. Instead it’s the woe is me routine: “This place sucks”. “This place isn’t what it used to be”. “Fine I’ll just stop sharing my information then!” I actually prefer the wild Brad Stevens New Mexico desert fan-fic to that Yeah understand but I guess the question is why are individuals labeled as insiders? Free message board - awesome post what you think or what you hear from the local redneck car wash and let everyone have fun with it. But why act like you are hearing info directly from Dolson himself? Clearly that never happened this cycle as everyone was extremely far off (but hey things changed last second, as always). I guess I just feel sorry for the crowd of people that eat it up with zero skepticism. Oh well, not here to cause issues. Hope Devries is successful and the fan base can fully support him when there are bumps in the road. IndyFife Posted March 19 Posted March 19 I’m actually as optimistic about this hire - more than any since RMK was let go. He is the first legit basketball mind we have had in AH in 25 years. I am hugely optimistic he will coach fundamentals and coach “Indiana” style basketball…team ball. HOWEVER, until he proves otherwise, we are basically UNCLE F-ING RICO and just need to accept it. As such, I’m gonna eat a gottdam steak at Zagrabs this Friday. So, feel free to randomly ask strangers if they are me if you happen to be there - and I’ll buy you a glass of wine so we can toast to future good fortunes together! go iu bb, moyemayhem, Jeff Flabjohns and 3 others 6 Quote
