Do you think they will let him keep his whiskey lodge?

I Dolson will confiscate it and I think the university has allotted him way more money than what he’s earned, he can afford his own but probably already has one in Atlanta

Recalling recent past when if this thread will reach a 1,000 posts….for 2025 when will 2,000 posts be reached….I suppose it will depend on when there is a coaching change.

I thought that he already had a place in Bloomington before he got the job? If he did, it's probably a place he has known about for a while and started to use it when he became coach.

The first half is about the football game on Friday and the fallout, but the second half is about the BB team and game on Saturday. Fish sounds like he doesn't see this team doing much, and he probably has more insight and experience with IUBB than anyone. He basically says they don't play hard. Woodson is done.

My guess is Woody skips town once he is canned.  Without the $4.2M/yr and status as HC he has no use for IU.

The Whiskey Lodge / Fellas Lounge should be bulldozed (or maybe a dramatic implosion?) for symbolic purposes.  Sort of like when a dictator is overthrown and the statues and other symbols of that person are destroyed as the people reclaim their country.

If it does, then you're targeting the wrong coaches.

Not really. Do you actually think an established coach like Pearl or promising younger guy like May would jump to IU knowing they have 2 years or they're gone? If IU admin acted with the attention span of a dog at a squirrel farm no coach worth his salt would consider the job. IU fans are like a guy trying to sell  a ratted out 1986 Trans Am calling it a classic, when everyone looking realizes it is a clunker in  need of major  time consuming restoration.

Top-5 NIL in the portal era will fund a restoration that takes two years max.

Firing Woody after two years wouldn’t make sense, but if Woody was let go after last year they would understand it was a disaster and they likely wouldn’t be worried.  As long as they make progress each year they will get four+ years no problem.

Yes.   Those type of coaches have big egos so they think they will be the coach to bring  IU back to glory.  Throw in the top 5  NIL, National Brand and fertile local recruiting area along with the recruiting doors opened by being the head coach of IU nationally in my opinion the risk is worth it for them even if they think they only have 2 years to get it done.

Winning coaches typically don't plan on losing and sucking for multiple seasons. It's why they're winning coaches.

A winning coach gets right to work and has that car fixed up in no time. Other coaches complain about it, make excuses and blame the car's previous ownership. You can probably guess which ones our last three coaches more closely resemble.

If Pearl or May or anyone else comes in here and starts to build a winning program, he'll get way more than 2 years. Given the portal and NIL, it's extremely likely that a decent to good coach could reload with a significant haul... look at the talent that The Parasite in Chief amassed... and he's nowhere near a legit coach. Cignetti also demonstrated what's possible in terms of changing the culture and the direction of a failed program in a single season.

Woodson talked the talk, but didn't have the juice to walk the walk. He was a dead man walking from day one, given his HS recruiting, energy level and coaching acumen.

Apples and oranges, my friend.

He wasn't dead man walking day 1 lol. All he had to do was coach. Listen to someone who has a clue and try to be successful. Unfortunately he doesn't have the drive or the knowledge to be a successful coach. Especially in college. Imo

Only a loser would come in worried about not getting 4+ years to win. It’s probably the biggest excuse I see from IU. IU keeps coaches too long because the administration cares more about optics than results. Kentucky just pushed out a coach with 100x the success of post-1990 IU and we’re sitting here worried about scaring coaches off if we fire them after three years and send them off with an eight-figure buyout. Be for real.

Did Fisch say if they don’t play hard Woodson is done?  Fisch never seems critical of an active coach. The team at times but not whoever the current coach is.

Yes despite his initial claims he has no real connection to iu except his buddies. The whole bringing the iu community together was complete bs. You will never see him at a game once he I'd canned.

It would need to be an epic fail to be gone after two years (or someone once in a lifetime becomes available).  But they would leave with a fat wallet.  In two years you should be able to show promise as far as team mechanics is concerned (even winning given the portal and what several coaches are showing), but more importantly putting in an off the court structure for success.  Everything from strength/conditioning, player development, to recruiting.  Currently, IU after 4 years doesn't have any of that.

But he kind of was because the experiment was doomed to fail. An NBA guy with zero college experience who is lazy. Was never going to work. He just expected to be loved because he played here 40 years ago. He is beyond lazy. The national media was laughing at the hire and they usually try and say every hire is great

I agree, he was doomed to fail from jump because he either didn’t know what the real job entailed or wasn’t willing to really do it. I think he thought he could cut corners and still get to where he needed to go and that was never going to happen.

An NBA guy that was pretty lackluster there, and couldn't get another HC shot after he got canned in 2014.
