Ok good to know on all of that, thank you for the info! So that gives us a very solid list of good candidates then. Also I agree on the Dolson only or him and Pam approach giving a much better chance for success. That's very good news too that we them on our short list! Appreciate the education!

I would hardly call his response messy or disavowing the whole state. He understands where he wants to be and stuck with his decision while complimenting fans. He's been given an incredible opportunity and jumped on it. We can't take that personally. He loves IU still. Can't knock him for taking the position he did at Boston and we don't know all the dynamics that went into his decision.

Anyone else catch Woody's pregame interview? I was a tad shocked when he said "According to other coaches we need to work on everything." And he's standing a lot more...What is happening right now lol -
Ok but I very highly doubt he'd say much more than no, and if he did, I very very highly doubt he'd say it publicly, so as I said all we can do is ask/make the offer, if he says no then ok we move on to another candidate.

I agree there, I just worry how well it will work against better teams with their defense and our lack of energy and motivation :( -
That's fair, do we really think we can pull Stevens from his current spot in Boston though? That just seems like a tough sell considering. I know certain people have maintained contact with him so maybe his passion will pull him here, least we can do it put the offer on the table. Worst he can say is no. And I know May loves IU but how realistic is it for him to leave Michigan after only one year? Pearl is a good coach, so pardon my ignorance but are the violations committed at Tennessee not violations anymore? Or are we just willing to take that risk considering his W/L record? I know I have a lot questions, it's just the current situation makes me ask them :P

I agree with all of this except Rice dribble driving. From what I've seen he struggles to hold onto the ball. -
No I'm well aware there are many interested, hell I'd take the job honestly, and I'm even less qualified than Woody but I bet I could do better hahaha I just wasn't so sure on who would be a good fit AND who the administration would be seriously considering for the position. I pray for the May hire and McCollum does indeed look promising with a lot of potential but who else is there that could eventually lead us back to top level play? The fan base is restless and understandably agitated with our HC hiring decisions since Knight. I understand people want the position, but I'm looking at it from the lens of "Which ones from that list have the potential to take us to the top and which ones of those could we actually get?" May and McCollum so far potentially but who else? And if we don't get someone who can produce within a few years considering the cyclical nature of college ball then where does that leave us?

Sadly no one in a position to do anything about it will see it, realize the chit our program is in and act accordingly. Ah well I can dream!

So we have Woodson and QB running our program into the ground roughly to the tune of 10 million dollars(four+ to Woody, six+ to NIL/portal) while laughing their way to the bank, their legacies and reputation be damned. There is a litany of issues surrounding Woodson's utter lack of college coaching abilities, his willingness to do what's required in recruiting and player development, and his refusal to learn or improve due to arrogance by narcissism, as in his mind he's "done his job" and it's our(not true fans) fault. Also the "young team" response that holds less water than a year old turd in the desert when we look at Louisville this year, who btw embarrassed us. New coach, whole new team of players, capable of doing that to us, the literal Six Million Dollar Man. That "hump" we're stuck on is full of wine and cigar smoke and if we want to get over it there are certain things that need to happen from the players AND the coaching staff, more on that below. Next we have the donors who funded this mess. It would seem to me that they haven't cared at all about results as long as they get access to Woodson. Yay for them, they get to rub shoulders with the coach and a legacy player of old. Whether or not they begin to understand how that negatively affects the team as a whole due to eating up a coaches time who otherwise would or at least should be working his butt off to develop and build a winning program remains to be seen. Recruiting, player development, strategy development for beating your opponents, etc takes a ton of time and effort. I don't pretend to know how much access they want/require to cut a check but multiple people taking up the coaches time does not a winning program make. Do you want a winning team or access to the coach? Because you can't have both. As far as the product we see on the court, a few changes I believe would make a massive difference. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong BUT our biggest pain point is our defense, or lack thereof, which stems from a lack of game planning and film study for scouting reports. Pi$$ poor planning provides pi$$ poor performance. Top teams are doing their homework on us and they will drown us in threes. Furthermore, we commit several senseless turnovers every game, which against good/great teams will result in giving up even more points in combination with our lack of defense. We cannot have multiple bigs on the floor at a time, as that results in more free threes as we have seen. We cannot rotate players in team a/team b style as we have seen historically from Woodson. You need a DEEP roster for that and even then it's not all that great in college ball. We are not consistent in our free throw shooting which is a lot of points left on the table and against better teams every point matters. There are other issues as well of course but those are the most glaring that will get exploited by better teams. Finally, we're now in a position where any coach we can potentially get is a risk. Stevens is highly unlikely considering where he's at and what he's doing now. Dusty May was more than likely our best option and those in charge passed on him and getting him to leave Michigan at this point is a toss up. If he has a great season this year, which is looking to be very likely, it may end up being fairly expensive to get him. McCollum has potential but there's a fair deal of risk there. Houston, we don't just have one problem, we have EVERY problem. Murphy's Law is our mantra right now, we need serious work to keep from sinking like the Titanic and duct tape and prayers aren't enough.
