Exactly!  I remember when he played and what that undefeated team meant then and what it still means now but to use that influence to get where we are now, I’ve totally lost respect for him and Woodson.   I’ve mentioned on here that it isn’t my nature to hope we lose, but after all of this, I hope we lose our last 3 games by 25 points or more!

I have no respect for either of them anymore. If I wanna watch old tapes of champion games I will watch 1987 and 2002.

This stuff is getting leaked for a reason. It'll be interested to see how it all plays out. I think Dolson ends up getting his way.

I would think the combination of Bruce Pearl and our NIL would give us a decent chance at retaining our core players + McNeeley.

I would think that we'd have a better chance of Mgbako and Tahaad Pettiford than McNeeley.

This is an interesting point and something I hadn't really considered. Not sure how much BP is tuned into the situation but I'd imagine the back channel conversations have obviously made him aware that political factors are at play and we may need to get a little messy with the media to make it happen. The fact Bruce hasn't said publicly "it's not happening" yet is interesting. Has to make you wonder if part of why BP would be on board is now he can see IU has an athletic director who isn't trying to shoot themself in the foot and they could work together. If they do pull this off, my excitement will be off the charts. I'd also be excited for Dusty. At this rate, making a change is the only way 99% of the people will feel any excitement for IUBB... not just next year, but for a very long time.

I'm predicting that one of the former players who backs Woodson will speak to press about the Pearl rumors.  I would imagine that they'll say that IU would never hire Pearl to coach at IU because he's had NCAA violations everywhere he's been. Probably throw in that Bob Knight would roll over in his grave if IU hired someone with Pearl's issues.

Hard to believe the pearl stuff is True..just because it feels too good to be true.  But man id love to have pearl for a 5-10 year stretch, whatever he's wanting.. I think we could actually do something.

Sadly, this fact actually could be suggestive of a pure leverage play…he could easily just be using this to turn up the heat on UA’s administration to give him everything…his son CIW, new, independent BBall practice facility, lifetime type deal. His team’s rolling and he has solid recruits coming in…knows the time to pressure is right now while the iron is as hot as it may ever get at Auburn.

I’ve seen it floated in a couple other corners of the interwebs, but the thought of what Bruce Pearl could do recruiting with our resources is what probably excites me most. Woody has proven our brand and money can get us in the door with Top-50 level players. Pearl would overhaul the roster and culture around IU overnight. Which makes potentially losing out on the chance that more gut-wrenching.

IMO the board would not have to officially approve the actual termination but probably financial settlements if they were significant.  But you're not going to arbitrarily terminate executive level employees without knowing your back is covered.

I was told he does because it involves a buyout. But also read from @BleedCubbieBlue that since it's only a million a year we might not need the BoT approval

If the change to a million a year allows Dolson to go around the BOT for the buyout, that would be an absolute masterclass by Dolson.

I'm in the same boat.  What does he have to gain other than keeping his friend on staff.  Conspiracy side, maybe they are trying to stick it to the admin and university for firing Knight.
