Oh, yeah, that was just a comment aimed towards if I’m saying Brad, Brad, Brad, only to hire a small time D2 coach, im probably not showing my face or talking too much

You talking about your friend or you on this site?

Seems like some of the “sourced” folks are the most butthurt about a potential McCollum hire

Meaning Drake will take a step back next year if he remained coach

I don't know, hence my question about how long it takes to get players ready to play in the system. I'm not passing a judgement, I'm asking a question because I don't know the answer.

Looking at Drake and saying not long doesn't prove it one way or another. Looking at their roster, they have a bunch of seniors. It might not take long since good coaches tend to be good teachers, after all, or it might take a year or two.

Probably no one on this board knows the answer, which is fine. Why would anyone here have paid too much attention to him at the D2 level?

I'd give Cig another season before you crown him.  We played 2 good teams all season and got torched both times.  He was also able to bring a bunch of his JM guys with him.  Just reminds me of Tom Allen's covid year where we didn't beat a single team that finished in the top 25 and he got a near $40M buyout for it then the wheels came off.  Many of us called it at the time.  Expect a lot of 7-5 finishes from Cig which is certainly fine.

Comparing Cignetti and the Hoosiers last year to Tom Allen’s COVID year is incredibly misplaced.

Goodman also believes McCollum will need offensive and defensive coordinators.  If that’s truly the case, he’s woefully under qualified.

That being said, I believe BM will be the pick.

So…..Assistant Coaches?  Yeah, that is concerning.
Seriously, and I didn’t hear it so I’m leery of context here, if Goodman suggested that McCollum has an X’s and O’s problem that may be the single stupidest thing anyone has said so far. In fact, no maybe, it is. Now, if he said he’d need an experienced recruiting coordinator, that I’d agree with.

The donors are only willing to pony up the big dollars for the one guy they know IU can't get.
Not necessarily true...if you're not going to believe Chris007's info that he could be coming, then his info can't be used as an example as to why paying someone else won't happen.

It took him until his 3rd year at NW Missouri State to win 20+ games, same as Hurley at URI and UConn.

He continued getting better at that level and built some very good teams which he retained the cores of.

This group he took with him may have been the best core he ever put together.

Stirtz is a nice piece. If he can retain some of the guys on this roster and get some transfers from the programs with coaches people pine for over him - who also happen to praise him and have strong relationships with (McCasland at TTU, Williams at A&M, Smart at Marquette)... you can see him having a serviceable roster in Y1. Still plenty of valid question marks/obvious risks. We'll see how quickly kids learn his system and if he's able to retain them / use the portal effectively.

I'm comfortable with the risks personally. Excited to see what he can do with our NIL and HS recruiting.

Only one that I know of was only putting his money up for BS. The rest would all save money with this hire though. One of the donors could cover this contract

So I guess the UK job is no longer attractive since they got turned down by top coaches and settled for Pope who.had never won a tournament game.
That's why I am admitting that I don't understand the current college basketball landscape. I'm admitting it's a trend that I don't understand. But I do believe what I said as far as what it communicates to me as a fan and the program I follow.
