Asha’man Posted March 9 Posted March 9 3 minutes ago, str8baller said: In general, yes. But if you want a real championship level coach capable of multiple titles they have to be able to win different ways to navigate your best teams to a title. A guy that teaches to his system well but is inflexible can hand wave away bad matchups in the regular season as only a couple of losses. But those same matchup difficulties are fatal in a single elimination tournament. That is different though from Tom Crean being carried to a FF by one of the greatest individual efforts ever with Dwayne Wade. People shouldn’t get enamored by those runs. It’s why you need both regular season and some post season success. But an elite coach will break through if they are consistently a top 1-4 seed in the tournament. That’s where the regular season success comes in and is so important. str8baller, JaybobHoosier and go iu bb 3

I certainly wouldn’t make a bet that he would return but nonetheless, it’s in the back of my mind. Cue up Cashy with some with news of groundswell muddling the process behind the scenes lol. I am fairly certain he is 100% gone, but the comments "thought 21 wins was enough" and "maybe I left too soon" are certainly eyebrow raising. Ultimately I think it is just Woody being Woody, but I don't think its crazy to wonder what happens if he does something silly like win the BTT and make a run to the EE. Popular Post TTT Posted March 9 Popular Post Posted March 9 Saturday, IU men’s basketball won a home game against a very average Ohio State basketball team with a very average Ohio State coach. That’s it. Take away high paying coaching salaries. Take away $6,000,000 NIL…how much do players and coaches really care? Without the NIL most of the players would not even be at IU. In addition to wins…that kind of ridiculousness in that kind of money coaches and players should be vested in both the university and community in major ways and not just by fly by the seat of your pants but a continuous year to year culture of positive involvement. The “maybe I’m retiring too soon “ comments after yesterday’s game. I know I mentioned this on the board last week…but each win empowers Woodson…he doesn’t want to leave. A couple wins in the tourney and who knows, maybe we’re stuck with him. It probably won’t happen…but the thought will be in the back of my mind… until he finally packs up his office and walks out the door. He actually thinks a nail biter home win against a bubble team is something to crow about? I'm mystified by how a person can ignore such obvious failure. It saddens me a bit that he makes it hard to root for this team. theriverpilot, Parakeet Jones, MikeRoberts and 5 others 7 1
