Appreciate the context. 
Dolson having to meet with an athlete board and actually give them insight into the hiring process is a glaring example of the incompetence of IU basketball the last 25 years. 
What an utter waste of Scott Dolson's time right now. 

Is IU the only college that requires the AD to do this?

Its stupid regardless of the sport. CFB/socccer etc

Yes I agree with that. I live this at the University. We need lots of committees and meetings.

I would be absolutely shocked if it’s Brownell, but at this point there isn’t anything i would rule out. Call it delusion, honestly that’s probably it, but my gut tells me the real Brad isn’t totally out of question, but maybe unlikely.

I have no clue. I could see a meeting that the AD attends once a semester or something, but weekly or bi-weekly and to discuss things like coaching hires? 

That's absolutely ridiculous. 

I was on my colleges athlete board (D2 - nowhere near IU's level obviously) and i don't remember ever meeting with our AD, maybe once at the beginning of the year, but weekly or bi-weekly? That's crazy.
