Of course, the reason why he’s obtainable isn’t good, but it will be very disappointing if we end up with a meh hire when Beard would definitely come. I think IF it is Beard, it means we missed on every other top tier option; and the decision comes down to Beard + Baggage/Risk vs guys like McCollum, Byington, etc. I think Beard wins big here if we do hire him, just not sure if it's worth the risk of something else happening. I trust Dolson if he does decide to roll the dice with Beard though. 8bucks, thebigweave and theriverpilot 3

I’m simply pointing out how/why Woodson would have inside information to the coaching search to all those that are under the impression that Woodson would be the last to know. He’s extremely close to two of the highest people around. Incredible how he's so close with them and it didn't do a damn thing to save his job. thebigweave, Chris007 and Hoosier Guy 3

On the other side of all that, the thing that intrigues me about him being the coach compared to others on the list is that IU is clearly his destination dream job that he would crawl to get to. People who want a job that bad would do a heck of a job at making sure they’re a success. Like I said, i understand not wanting him and agree with those points, but there comes a time where why would you want to have to continue to beg and bribe a coach to want to come here when you could have a solid guy who dreams of having the job….are there better candidates? Absolutely…but I wouldn’t be upset if we ended up with Beard (even though I doubt it’d end up happening). After he got fired from his previous dream job... but I said that I wasn't discussing him any more... so, I mean it now. Chris007 and go iu bb 2

But Woody does know people and I am sure he hears things. Now you could probably argue he hears what he wants to hear and very well may not communicate what he hears correctly. But he definitely hears things lillurk, 8bucks, MikeRoberts and 1 other 3 1
JF87 Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 Which of the coaches mentioned would be a total let down? I could live with a lot of the names mentioned on this board, but I would be depressed if we end up with adequate and not someone who is considered great or at least a potential star. My ugh list would be Turgeon, Brownell, and Jans. tkbbn, pumpfake and P92 3
