It is a shame Beard has all those issues.  He would no doubt be option  3 in this search if things were in a better place.  And I think he would do a really good job.  But lets hope we do not have to get to option 3

I understand why Beard is likely a non starter, but I truly believe he will end up in 10 years being a lot like Bruce Pearl, a coach that a lot of programs wished they would have taken a risk on.

Option 3? He'd be the clear number one probably.

When did you read this? Just curious.

I thought it was here?  - someone wrote about series of incidents - one where Beard got drunk in front of Pat Knights inlaws and was a real @$$ - another was about the 'vids' of Beard being wasted in college bars (https://kkam.com/drunk-chris-beard-ruins-texas-tech-fans-christmas/) - seemed like they had done their research - knew stuff

Again just rumors. Do I believe them? Maybe but I think they should allow an independent group to vet Beard - he's a solid choice from just a coaching standpoint - if there's smoke there then rule him out.

Was in the stadium for it. The polar opposite reaction of everyone opening their phones to the Schefty bomb that night would be nothing short of complete anarchy.

Frankly, those of us who are IU basketball and Colts football fans are due for something this epically positive to happen.

We could also hire Stevens and he decides to leave at the first opportunity to run a hedge fund. There is a ton of support ($1000,000,000) for a guy that has never stayed put long and has bolted at the first glimpse of trouble

id put my investment behind a guy that has always wanted to coach in college

Yeah something like that.

Or he'll mess up again and be forced to coach NAIA schools.

A dusty extension means nothing, he signed one with fau for a long time and got hired at Michigan shortly after

I hear what you're saying... but an extension means Dusty isn't coming... at the very least, I am pretty sure the buyout would be increased to a cost-prohibitive level...

Indiana has already vetted him, the last coaching search, that's been covered by Chris007 here, Rabby, and just about anyone. Indiana found out they don't like what's behind the curtain.

this isn't actually how you describe Brad Stevens?
