General Coach Candidate News

Well, you know what you’re going to get with Collins and Brownell.  Average coaches don’t all of the sudden become great.  It’s not like either of these have a small sample size.  Both Collins and Brownell were on the hot seat recently at their respective schools.  Would you take 3 tournament bids in the next 10-12 years?  History shows that is what you could expect to get, based on evidence.

Winning at Northwestern is next to impossible. To equate the situations of Collins to the others is unfair. No one wins at Northwestern. Him getting them to the tournament is one hell of an accomplishment. Not saying he'd win it all at IU but he's a very, very good coach. Put him in a better situation and he's probably in the tourney every year.

Will say this for Collins - I'm sure he was devastated to hear of Woody's upcoming retirement.

Great candidate.

Prove me wrong

I cannot imagine, with as big of a hire as this is not only for IU but for Dolson’s legacy overall, that he would risk a hire of Wade or Beard.  It’s not just that Wade broke rules that aren’t illegal now, it reflects on his character that he was willing to knowingly break the rules in place.  Is this someone you’re going to trust to run the biggest program in the state and attach your legacy to?  I just cannot see Dolson doing that.

That’s as big of a roll of the dice as McCollum IMO, perhaps even more so as Collins hasn’t proved, at any level, that he can win big.

I agree with that. It's why I don't wait either of them. I pray IU can do better than those two.

Did you all seriously believe that smokescreen that Kevin Boyle was leaving Montverde Academy for Spire Academy in Ohio?  That's just an overnight stop on his way to Bloomington.  Am I the only one that didn't see through that? C'mon Scott, you can do better than that.

Hearing some interesting rumblings out of Bloomington...multiple sources indicating that Scott Dolson and Bruce Weber have had conversations about the IU head coaching job. Weber, who has deep Big Ten experience and a track record of success at multiple programs, is apparently on Dolson’s radar as a potential option. While nothing is finalized, and IU may still explore other candidates, the fact that these talks are happening suggests that Dolson is at least seriously considering Weber as a viable choice. Given Weber’s defensive-minded approach and history of developing players, it’s not hard to see why he’d be in the mix. Keep an eye on this one.

;)

Grills….Dolson was on the phone with Ace Hardware asking about Weber grills and pick up/delivery.
