I am starting to get a little of the Bill Self vibe from Scott Drew HT @hper50... Are we sure that he's going to thrive in the era that everyone can pay players? Looking at his teams the last three years gives Tom Crean Marquette vibes more than national contender. Think he would be more consistent than Crean, but think it remains to be seen how he holds up.

Alford was brought up plenty of times in the past coaching searches but it seems like people have mostly moved on from him, thankfully. Pretty much no one on this board has talked about him. I'll sometimes glance at other boards and some FB groups and I'm not seeing much about him there, either.

He would be an awful hire for multiple reasons.

I’m far from a miserable human and think that is well over the line and rules of the board.

there are plenty of coaches I would prefer over Stevens and I am well aware that Indiana has been working on Stevens for over 4 years, that’s not news.

what is news is that he is coming, that the news will come out in the next few days and that the staff has already been picked. Those are all things that YOU have claimed to know since you arrived here.

I’ll never know how true this is, but I was told by what I believed was a pretty good source back when it purportedly happened that Alford was in negotiations to take the job after Davis’ interim year but Brand nixed it at the last minute and decided IU was keeping Davis full time.

By end of next week news should be out. Not a formal announcement, but the dam wall won’t hold for much longer. Not a troll. Way better than a 0% chance. Have heard two names mentioned as assistants. We should all be very happy, including you, if/when this comes to fruition. And if not, hey, I’ll still be here and pass things along as they come. If so, you owe me a coke haha.
