UoL and UK both passed on him:)

I know you are poking me about Beard (all good, and hilarious i might add), but i should have added, we get to Collins and we are well and truly cooked lol. I do not want him in any way, just was asking cause I seriously could not place him ever being in conversation for other jobs. (Wisconsin comes to mind maybe as a fit)?

The guy is simply amazing... he's blowing off pre- and post-game interviews with Don Fischer because he's embarrassed that he's an entitled brat and crappy coach who hasn't recruited for 4 years... but he can take the time to travel to Florida on the company dime to "recruit" a kid who's already committed and who would crawl over broken glass to play for IU...

So glad he's gone soon, but wish he was gone last year... he's screwed up this program more in the past 4 years in more ways than we can count, and walked away with $20M...

Maybe he went down there to dissuade Sisley from coming? Just kidding.

Eh not really. This day his first year IU was 16-10 and had lost 5 straight. His first year was real mid.

Wasn’t that the one year where we finished higher in the BT than preseason expectations?  At one point we had one of the top defenses in the country.  Going into year 2 he had momentum and expectations rose and from the on we underperformed.  Year 2 we were projected to win the BT and still came in second but he needed success in the tournament to help seal the deal and that was a flop.

Ugh, I can just feel it being Cronin. And 20-30 other schools continue to have coaches I like more than my alma mater.

He’s a decent coach, but that would not be fun due to the fit being so-so at best and there being better options out there.

I would initially have a visceral reaction, then I would rationalize it and have some optimism, then it probably doesn’t go well and I have to back off my pro-Dolson stance, and finally I just follow football until the next coaching search.

I still trust Scott right now.  We really don’t know what he’s up to.

If IU hired Brownell then they would just be telling us they have no intention of ever actually trying to bring this program back.

There's no way Dolson pushed this hard to get rid of Woodson just to pry Brownell away from Clemson. Think of the risk he would be taking.

Of course I said essentially the same thing about Woodson when Archie was fired.

Come on...there's nobody (Dolson, whoever) that says, "Nope, you're not spending recruiting resources at this stage of your employment."

Wasn’t that long ago everybody was criticizing him for NOT recruiting McNeely after he committed. The hate is real. ( AND IM NOT A COACH WOODSON FAN, SO NOT DEFENDING)

The Brownell talk sounds like agent nonsense to me trying to garner interest in their client in general. Zero chance Brownell is a candidate JMO. Cronin smoke too most likely. Agents and media people do this crap every big opening, throwing around nonsensical options. It is good for business for Brownell to have stories about being connected to the IU job.

If it isn’t Stevens and we won’t look at Pearl and Beard it could very well end up being a Collins type. I guess he is an upgrade to Woodson but yeah, it would be very meh, mid, average
