We are the penultimate case study of mismanaging a major, historically elite college athletic brand. We keep bringing in inexperienced insiders to run and influence IU athletics (Glass, Dolson), allow undue influence of board members and major donors - and then settle for risk, mediocrity and nepotistic, emotional choices to lead the program who have absolutely no business being in their roles. Major college sports is big business and we’ve squandered our capital again and again with on bad decision hire after hire. Hiring Woodson in the first place was a really poor decision. Bringing him back for a year 4 was completely insulting. Clean house and bring in professionals! Drew, Cronin, Buzz, Brownwell…feels like ceiling is top 1/3rd of B1G…top 3 once every 5 years or so. It disgusts me a bit, but go get Beard and a new AD. Sorry, but even mentioning Brownell in the same sentence as those other 3 is outlandish. And Scott Drew is also a tier above the other 2 by quite a bit (also a tier above Beard imo). Anybody not happy with a Scott Drew hire for basketball reasons is out of their minds. (I don't see him leaving Baylor anyways, so it doesn't matter) CSP and pumpfake 2
Popular Post IUwins0708 Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 I have more faith in Dolson than any other AD we’ve ever had. We all should. Need to see the details to determine in this is anything but damn - it sucks being an IU fan. We put Woody's feelings over winning. Dusty should be our head coach RIGHT NOW. Even so, at the very least, a new contract means that the buyout goes up... probably a ton. Don't sign anything, Dusty!

TargaFlorio Posted February 22 Posted February 22 (edited) https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/dusty-may-michigan-agree-to-contract-extension-amid-indiana-basketball-coaching-search/ May spoke exclusively to CBS Sports' Matt Norlander on Friday, shortly before his Wolverines hosted their rivalry matchup against No. 14 Michigan State. The reason for the timing? "We've picked up positive momentum as a team, and on the recruiting front, and we didn't want it to be a distraction internally or externally," May told CBS Sports. "I think it makes it obvious: I'm staying at Michigan," May told CBS Sports, adding, "I really wasn't interested in leveraging in negotiating" with Michigan as the team works toward a high NCAA Tournament seed. Popular Post HoosierTrav Posted February 22 Popular Post Posted February 22 I will continue to scream McCollum’s name from the mountaintop. He’s elite! When’s the last time Indiana has had the best tactician on the sideline? Prime Knight? McCollum would be the very best X’s & O’s coach 9.9 times out of 10. He’s got a chance to tie Drake’s single season wins record, in year 1 of Division 1, with FOUR D2 transfers starting. He’s not a flash in the pan. He dominates everywhere he goes. Why would that change at all place where he will have no problems getting talent? We missed on Stevens and May? Don’t miss on this no brainer. And he is a no brainer. We are all going to find out in short order. What would everyone’s position have been in TJ Otz prior to his immediate succes at ISU? Truthhurts, Josh, sirhoosierlot and 9 others 12

Am I over thinking that? Did that screw Dolson on his search? Not sure Woody did it on purpose, but in the end, he may have screwed us again!

go iu bb Posted February 22 Posted February 22 For those wondering if it really takes him off the board since the buyout went to only $7.5M, after reading this article I'd say yes. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/dusty-may-michigan-agree-to-contract-extension-amid-indiana-basketball-coaching-search/ "I think it makes it obvious: I'm staying at Michigan," May told CBS Sports, adding, "I really wasn't interested in leveraging in negotiating" Other info from the article: CBS Sports can exclusively report on the details of May's new contract terms: A one-year extension on the deal, which now runs through the spring of 2030 An increase of $1 million annually in salary A pay bump across the board for the Michigan men's basketball staff A big increase investment for program resources, including Michigan's NIL war chest A buyout that will rise to $7.5 million Home Jersey, BannerVille, mamasa and 1 other 2 2

Wonder if the basketball hire comes out of left field too. Hopefully in a similarly good way if so. I was with Lebowski on that one, Thank you! Home Jersey 1
