The college ball player market is as fluid as it gets...bad that’s likely staying. Don’t fight the flow...buy a raft, enjoy the river ride...and let’s Win Baby!! Popular Post WayneFleekHoosier Posted April 24, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 24, 2021 “His Dad is a big mouth which can be detrimental to programs. His time is ticking away to show he is NBA ready and he knows that.” I see this repeatedly asserted with NO basis. He is an excellent student and would be going into his third year of college. What the hell is this narrative based on, other than people who are pissed he didn’t go to IU who are projecting?Fully agree. Just a Dad that wants the best for his son. He thought UK was that option. Can’t blame him really. Maybe a bit of a helicopter, but heck, most are. I think a lot of it stems from his time at North Side but I don’t think anyone knows the full story. La Lu loved him. Kentucky seems to like him. I like him. Not sure we have space anymore. It is what it is. I wish the kid the best. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners mobile app 8bucks, bobbyhull, Stuhoo and 6 others 9 Quote
HoosierAloha Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 Mod: let’s get back on topicOther mod: off topic!Haha good ****!!On topic: transfers, lots and lots of transfers. We should legitimately not have any fall off year to year because we can address any roster issues with viable transfers after each season. akumanina Posted April 24, 2021 Posted April 24, 2021 If Brooks wants to learn from CMW and also to be part of his IU revival project, I'd welcome him wholeheartedly. Why not? He's a definite upgrade to our roster. I saw his sophomore highlights, and honestly we don't have enough players of his caliber in terms of raw talent and athleticism. Some of us are talking about his 3 point shooting, but our returning players didn't shoot well beyond the arc anyway. If they shot well, we would've still had Archie. Nelly Cummings recommitted to Colgate and Goodman tweeted about how good Colgate was going to be. This was in the exact same time period in which Tamar Bates and Miller Kopp committed to IU and he tweeted nothing about either one. Quote

It's the exact same mantra he always replies with on these kind of things -- when called out, he resorts to some hyperboilc statement that no one said. Chris007 1 Quote

I know what you're saying. It could sound hypocritical that we use the word 'family', and on the other hand we kick out players who are willing to stay and work hard. But at this point, creating a winning program is the most important thing; without winning, there won't be a family. Also, being a family is a two way street; from a player's perspective, a student-athlete must want to be a part of it and have strong conviction that playing for IU would be his best interest. From IU's perspective, players should be worthwhile; every basketball scholarship is, for IU, a valuable investment. In other words, going forwards in CMW era, each player has to meet certain level of quality standards in both basketball and non-basketball to become a family. Quote

Building a long term successful program doesn't start with betraying your word to a dyed in Hoosier wool player for a moderately better player. Also, being a family is a two way street; from a player's perspective, a student-athlete must want to be a part of it and have strong conviction that playing for IU would be his best interest. Well the player being discussed has never wavered from that belief. From IU's perspective, players should be worthwhile; every basketball scholarship is, for IU, a valuable investment. In other words, going forwards in CMW era, each player has to meet certain level of quality standards in both basketball and non-basketball to become a family. There isn't a current scholarship player that would have not met that standard under any IU coach. This is just a lot of words trying to justify possibly Creaning a player that just pledged himself to you and the IU program. For a top 5 recruit you might have to bend your ethics a bit, but for the middling 3rd yr guy whose name shall not be spoken, HARD PASS. Answered above.
