Osterman in the Indy Star:

BLOOMINGTON – After surrendering post depth to transfer, with the departures of Jake Forrester and Clifton Moore, IU coach Archie Miller has gotten some back.

Butler graduate transfer center Joey Brunk, a one-time IndyStar Mr. Basketball finalist at Southport, has committed to play his last two seasons of college basketball for Indiana, the player tweeted Tuesday.

The Hoosiers’ involvement in Brunk’s re-recruitment gathered pace quickly, with IU coaches visiting him in Indianapolis and Brunk responding with a trip to Bloomington days later. Now, he’ll join a frontcourt that also includes senior De’Ron Davis and incoming freshman (and McDonald’s All American) Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Brunk has two years of eligibility remaining. He averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game last season at Butler, shooting 61.7 percent from the floor.

It's official so let's get him his own thread up and running.

Joey Brunk‏ @JoeyBrunk

I’ve grown up an Indiana kid & I’m proud of where I come from. Excited to be an Indiana Hoosier & play for Coach Miller. Looking forward to joining the tradition.

NICE!

No... a legit center. C'mon man Juwan was never a legit center, barely 6'8. Brunk is 6'11. Davis is what, 6'10? Add in TJD and Race. IU hasn't had this in a long time. Maybe 2016? Bryant, OG, and Bielfeldt? Even on the 2012/2013 team it was just Zeller. You can't have too many bigs.

Hey I like this pick up but we had 2 bigs just leave the program 2 weeks ago. And if Juwan was not a big how is Race a big.

Now, it is perfectly fine to be happy trading 2 guys who were far down the bench for Brunk who could be a great pick up.

How is brunk defensively?

Much better than jake or Clifton. His defense is actually one of his strengths. I wouldn’t ever expect him to create much offense but he will be a stopper down low. Great pickup for post depth from the staff. Just need a shooter now
