  1. Don't know if anybody pointed this out -- guessing someone did -- but our hoops team scored 51 points against Illinois. Our football team scored 63 points against Illinois. WE ARE A FOOTBALL SCHOOL!

  3. Is this thing on? How did I go back to being a newbie? Am I still alive? I enjoy the style of basketball I'm seeing, but it doesn't seem we have enough talent.

  4. Jamie Jordan does a good job at providing a 'Reactionary' depth chart. Here's what he's thinking. https://hoosierhuddle.com/community/free-iu-football-board/2026-indiana-football-roster-and-depth-chart/ Here's a direct link. At this point Turner and PJ Nelson are probably battling for the spot. Turner has more experience and that is preferred by the staff. So if I had to guess Turner gets the nod. But I agree with Hovadipo that the majority of the scheme will be two LB looks. I'm more concerned about the green dot. Fisher can't be replaced so I just hope he rubbed off on Jones enough to make the transition easier. Regarding the TE spot, no clue. That's the biggest question mark on the entire roster.

  5. Also to Woody's advantage; the year we were comfortably in with him we were a five seed and the year we were comfortably in with Archie we would have been about a nine seed. And because it was the Covid year, Archie quite literally never coached in an NCAA game at IU. Woody had four, going 2-2. (suck it, Wyoming and Kent State!) Finally, Woody actually had an above .500 conference record at IU, whereas Archie was 33-44 and got worse every single year. Take that, those that think TJD should have helped Archie succeed. Btw, while not in the Big Ten, all bad P5 coaches pale in comparison to the GOAT of bad big program coaches, Kenny Payne!

  9. He is an outstanding young player in a terrible system. An upgrade over a 5th year Lamar Wilkerson? No. A fantastic addition to any high-major team? Absolutely.

  10. Didn't Jones have green dot when Fisher missed time? I think that's probably why most assume it'll be him. Unless I'm mistaken on him having wore it at that time.

  11. More stolen content from Reddit: Based on simulations of the remaining season using KenPom-style efficiency ratings. Tie-breaking done using official B1G tie-breaking rules.

  12. Yeah that was painful. Ugh. I'll be at next Sunday's game against Oregon -- trip home to visit my 85 year old mom and we're going to the game -- she's a life-long women's team fan. Looking forward to seeing them live and hope Shay's fully back/healthy, to help us get the W.

  14. Tang coached in his 4th year just like Woody did. They just fired him with 1 month left in the season to get a jump on the off season. Their reaction speed wouldn’t have landed Dusty either. They would have had to fired Tang at the end of his 3rd year in order for their reaction speed to land Dusty

  15. There are also era differences. Archie could never buy players. Imagine Woody without NIL and he has to recruit pre-NIL style. Holy crap I can’t imagine how bad we would have been. And if Woody doesn’t inherit TJD… his first year probably looks more like his actual third year. But, at end of the day they both stink so whoever someone thinks is worse I won’t argue much.

  16. Indiana would be coached by Dusty May if we had Kansas States reaction speed. It’s gonna take me a while to get over this obvious flub.

  19. To be honest I forgot about Goode, but my general point still stands. How many years did we hear about how we would start shooting more 3's and get more shooters. DeVries hasn't just moved people around he's been running different things over the course of season. Ultimately time will tell if things work out. But I like what I've seen so far. Right now we are just limited by our personal.

  20. I’m not even upset about this loss. Not because I’m apathetic, I just thought it was a terrible matchup with a final four caliber team coming off a loss. Next up Purdue. Go get a win.

  21. I think we’ll play a majority two LB looks. Seems that we played three so much this year because it was impossible to keep one of Jones or Hardy off the field. Kind of wonder if we see Ohlinger or Ja’Dyn Williams play some sparingly-used 3rd LB like Hardy was his freshman year. I’m not very high on Turner or Otzinger outside of special teams and emergencies at this point. Maybe one of them will break out though. I think Baldwin can play in the box too.

  23. He sucks as a coach in general. 23-43 in the A10 at Rhode Island with an above league average NIL. Used to have fans now the arena is empty, despite no Covid bubble. But this is a serious digression haha I don’t think anyone here wants Woody or Archie type hires ever again and we’re literally discussing among the two of the all time disappointing runs in IUBB history; just each have slightly different takes on *how* bad each is/was in their own right

  26. Only quibble here is the NCAA committee sometimes seems to just disregard conf tourneys
    2 points
  27. Fair - but let's say you have a game with the same players on each team. Do you want Archie or Woody coaching your team? CAM is pretty bad, but I'd take him 10 times out of 10 against Woody. What coaching did Woody ever do?? this convo is probably getting old to the Board. Lol

    College Bball Thread

Thamel reports “the basis for the for cause firing is language in his contract that references any activity that brings “public disrepute, embarrassment, ridicule” to Kansas State.” This is referencing his recent presser comments. Ha. Good luck arguing he met the standard for cause here… (no way)

  29. It was closer than you would think. Archie not beating Purdue gives the edge to Woody probably but we are comparing bad on bad. I’ve compared them before but the incomplete season where Archie’s team didn’t get a chance to finish the BTT and get a chance to compete in the NCAA which they earned to right to do makes the comparison an incomplete. Who knows what would happen. In his last year he had to coach in empty arenas. No home court advantage. He sucked as coach but it’s stinks it happened. Archie’s 4 years 1. No where near making it 2. 2nd team out 3. would of comfortably made it 4. No where near making it Woodys 4 years 1. 2nd to last team in 2. Comfortably in 3. No where near making it 4 2nd team out

  30. Going to have to bring in some studs for next year, no if, ands, or butts…Illinois brought in the Serbian Express and our Serbs account for 0%

  31. Coming off of two losses. Wisconsin beat them off a loss. Their record paced offense on Kenpom took a slight tick upward after today. I’m pretty sure our O & D efficiency dropped a tad. We’re currently ranked 38th in Oeff and 48 in Deff.

  32. Maybe... 4 is probably enough IMO. 3 is probably a similar year to this year unless two of the guys really develop shockingly well. But really, it's impossible to say without knowing the quality of portal additions. I do think we can be reasonably confident money will be allocated better on next year's roster, with TDV and Bailey departing and having a core of players to retain rather than starting from scratch. Big offseason coming up.

  33. It’s kind of funny that a guy like Anthony Richardson (who I actually like and would love to see him get a fresh start with someone who can afford to spend time developing him) gets labeled as someone with an elite arm coming out because he can throw a football through the Lucas Oil Stadium window, but he couldn’t make that throw shown above in a million billion years.

  34. I think that Haines really likes Turner in pass coverage. He came in on passing downs in the red zone against OSU when the whole defense was healthy.

  37. Umm, didn't we beat a ranked Iowa team twice that year? Like Top Ten both times?

  38. Agree, but not quite. We will have a B1G tournament game, so to get to 20 wins we need to win three out of six.

  39. I am no bracketologist, nor did I sleep at a Holiday in, but I think we need to get to 20 wins. So with 5 games left, 3-2 would put us at 11-9 in conference, and 20-11 overall. Stealing one over Purdue or Mich State, would really set us up. Otherwise, it could come down to beating OSU on the road.

    IU Women's Soccer

I did not know she flipped from Michigan to Indiana. Big time get for IU and shows the value of having a staff with good connections to Indiana clubs. Mary Seiffert coached at Indy Premier where Sloane played but I do not think she coached her directly.

  41. It will be interesting to see if they take the next step and contribute next year or if they transfer out. I’d assume our center is red shirting and developing. But who knows.

  42. As crazy as it seems, if Shay is back we will be favored in our next three games. Both men's and women's B1G hoops have a severe case of have's and have nots this season.

  43. Woody was without a doubt one of the worst hires ever If you had polled the other P4 schools and asked if they would have interviewed him for an assistant spot I doubt you would have found anybody to say yes. But we handed him the HC spot. Coaches are like recruits if nobody else wants them it’s probably a sign. QB danced on the court after going undefeated. And he danced on IU basketballs grave when he hired Woody.
