Couple of comments from today's Zoom presser. Curt Cignetti says emphasis for Indiana "was on the '27 team, retention and needs" before IU knew its Rose Bowl opponent. Hoosiers are in Alabama prep now, but he's got a firm idea of what the majority of his contributors' long-term intentions are. Curt Cignetti on handling 3 weeks off before playing Alabama: "Before we knew our opponent, we treated it like two bye weeks. And now we have almost two weeks to prepare for the opponent. "Would I like to play earlier? Yeah, I would, to be honest with you." Curt Cignetti on filling Stephen Daley's role at edge rusher: "We'll find the best solution that gives us the best chance to be successful." Curt Cignetti -- with a smirk -- on what IU will do to replace Stephen Daley's production on defense: "You'll see what we decide to do when we play the game, right?" Curt Cignetti on new deals for Bryant Haines, Mike Shanahan: "Bryant had some calls, had some people very interested in him... We also wanted to lock Mike up, who is very deserving. Very glad we did. As the season goes on, we'll work on locking up the rest of the staff."

I’m also a big fan of Scott Dolson women’s basketball and volleyball, and Scott Dolson men’s soccer. But yes, Scott Dolson football is amazing. Dem back shoulder fades him and Pam Whitten throw are exquisite!

Reading between the lines per Cig's presser today, Haines was receiving some very serious HC interest which got the admin to expedite his extension. Not so much on Shanahan, but they wanted to make sure he got locked up also.

I agree if that is his injury, I have never seen where that was the definitive diagnosis, and as I said all the comments are always probably, likely, etc. I don't see how hoping he can play in the National Championship game in a month and a half, if we get that far, does any harm. If he can't play, I still like our chances and I still think Kamara has another gear we haven't seen this season!

Adam Finkelstein just put out a story on what he called his 2 biggest stock risers at the City of Palms Classic and Moody is one of his picks. Paywalled but commented his shot form has improved and not being expected to play PG as he did last year has helped elevate his overall game. Thinks Moody clearly deserves a top 100 ranking. I respectfully disagree. IU is 13-0, beat the team that was ranked #1, has the Heisman winning QB, the repeating Coach of the Year, and a very under rated defense. IU has accomplished so much this year that a loss in the Rose Bowl cannot wash away. I think IU can play loose and let 'er fly against bambam. I'm not predicting the score but I do believe IU will win the game.

Well after that awesome display of offensive firepower in the 2nd half of today's game, my body's already tingling with anticipation for Monday night's riveting matchup. NOT. Siena (9-3) averages 70 ppg with a +7 margin. They shoot 46% FG but just 29% on 3s. They average 35 rpg with a +4 margin. 3 players average in double figures led by Gavin Doty at 14.8ppg. Their best 3-point shooter is Christian Jones at 36.6%. Tasman Goodrick their best rebounder at 7.3/gm. I've no doubt we'll win this game but this is the last softball non-con game of the season. Next up we'll host Washington (7-4) on Jan. 4., and it's all B1G from there on out. Radio Live Stats

More info: She is the sister of former Purdue player Myles Colvin (now at Wake Forest) and the daughter of former Purdue footballer Roosevelt Colvin. Should be increased odds for IU since we are the home state team that allows her to be near friends and family, and especially since Purdue women's basketball is a complete, unmitigated cultural and on-court train wreck.

Yea. I'd say I'm just noting Beard doesn't appear to the savior a pretty vocal (and slightly annoying) group thought he was. As for CDD, yea we'll see. I haven't really liked what I've seen so far, but he's gonna be the coach here for probably at least three years and it's still possible he figures it out. He did inherit a mess. All I can do is hope for the best...

As opposed to the master of complaining? If you don't Ike IU basketball, quit watching it. You act like Dolson is the leadership that has gotten IU basketball to this point. CDD is into a third of the season, in his first year, and we already have people wanting him and the AD fired. If you consider deflection, pointing out the good things happening in our athletic department, then guilty as charged. Everyone is frustrated with the basketball program, but this didn't start with Scott Dolson. Outside of a few decent years, we've been pretty irrelevant for almost 3 decades.

The scary part is you’ve been right on the last two coaches from the get go. Seems like same crap different coach at this point.

This is completely uncalled for, and inaccurate. Not sure what your vendetta is against this young lady, but it seems a little personal. HSE's schedule says either you don't follow basketball, or you're intentionally misleading people.

Well, IU basketball may, indeed, be on its deathbed... but c'mon, football is rocking and setting new highs for IU every time out, and garnering the majority eyes for Indiana athletics. Then we get a new coach with a cobbled roster playing a team with a KenPom rating deep in the 300s with no reasonable television access... not at all surprised about the lack of posts on a discussion forum. Nothing to see here... moving on.

His coaching, records and team building at Drake, his 1 year at WV turning it around from the prior season (and should have been in the tournament as most recognize), as a HC, his 17 seasons coaching tree exp as an assistant at Creighton, his recognition by most commentators that he’s one of the better coaches, and what I’ve seen of him this season including coming out of half time (not last couple games). 6 seasons at Drake he was .732 on W-L. I mean in fairness the competition for that comp at IU is Crean, Miller and Woodson, the latter 2 being flat out terrible and Crean being a good builder of the program back to respectable, largely on recruiting, but an average sideline coach. DeVries is a proven good basketball mind and program developer, I’m confident we have a guy who can get us back into competing in the top of the B1G, he has to prove it in the Portal era, so we’ll see, but it’s not an overnight thing starting from a complete blank slate as he did here

It's not just the losses to those two. It's how we lost. Heck, it's even how we've won. We've looked terrible, no hustle, picking up the dribble with no idea of what comes next, playing down to competition, coach not able to motivate. Don't try to simplify it to record alone. We look really bad and that's why there's upset fans
