Personally, I love that the rest of the country - the SEC in particular - believes that "if Indiana can do it, so can they." Cignetti was a perfect storm and was both beneficiary and master of the portal and NIL. He brought 13 starters from a ranked team with him. He brought culture and expectations. He brought a familiar, successful, and experienced staff. The turnaround was rapid because of it and much bigger than any of us had a right to anticipate. What he did here cannot be duplicated. Ever. It was a one time event, managed perfectly with a very defined and singular set of circumstances. He was the perfect fit at the perfect time at the perfect place with the perfect circumstances. Lane Kiffin isn't going to do any more at LSU than he did at Ole Miss and LSU paid $70 million to find out. That will happen all over the country. And here we'll sit with everyone else wondering how in the hell we did it. They aren't paying attention to the why or the how. They care only about the "what." And we will watch them all go crazy trying to figure out what we already know. Curt Cignetti - first of all - is one of one. He's Bob Knight reincarnated....football version. The circumstances under which he came here and succeeded won't ever exist again. And it will never be "spending" that succeeds. This is spot on. There is nobody else coaching right now at any level that has the ability to demand what Cignetti demands and keep everyone bought in. There is no “next Cignetti” out there right now. The answer he gave in yesterday’s press conference about whether the loser of the OSU-IU game deserves a bye is very telling. We know how every other coach in the country would have answered that question. Cignetti said his team needs to go out and earn it. Because he knows they will. Enjoy and appreciate what we have right now, my friends. We are the envy of every fan base in the country.

Two years from now with a senior Beaumont and Zania, junior Caffey and Makalusky, and two big time sophomores? That reads like a national championship contender to me.

I’m still not sure what Ohio State has done this year to earn the level of praise they’ve received, which has “solidly put them a tier above everyone.”…They won @Washington and handled an incredibly overrated Michigan team? Texas was a mess to start the season. They did look better against Penn State than we did, but they also played a “different” Penn State team at home. We got Penn State’s best and final shot this year. OSU is not a great running team. They have a great o-line and passing game, but they haven’t faced any semblance of a pass rush this season. If we can make their offense one dimensional and hurry Sayin by a second or two more than he’s used to then I think we have a very good chance to not only win but win by more than one score. Give me IU 34-24.

If I’m Penn State running with their interim might be the best bet. Penn State was the only team all year to outscore us in a half. They ran with OSU for a half at OSU and they barely lost at Iowa. Not saying he’s the answer but I don’t know that their is a definitive better option out there for them

It’s really good to start B1G play with a road win. This is as winnable as the road gets. Stars currently aligned for the Hoosiers.

I would say Minnesota is a very soft 4-4 at that, having lost to every decent team they’ve played and needing overtime to beat Green Bay. Tough place to play, but it’d be disappointing to drop this one.

That’s where scheme comes in. Our actions are designed to free players in certain areas and to draw the defense to certain areas. In very basic terms, we screen, space, and move to open spots behind the three point line, and then flash bigs or drive guards all the way to the rim once the defense gets far extended. You are a guy that appreciates RMK: He had a motion offense that freed up shooters all over the court; that is, until the 1987 addition of the three point line and Alford. At that point, his motion offense turned into a scheme to free up Alford in deep space. That’s what he used for Jay Edwards and Evans too. Problem is, RMK never really had a shooter of that caliber after those three.
