  8. I’m an IU grad who has been an IU football fan for 50 years. I will be at Lucas Oil Saturday night with all 3 of my sons, one of whom is currently an IU student. Trying to imagine standing in awe after the game looking at an Indiana team that will be the unanimous #1 team in the county and the favorite to win the national championship. Beyond my wildest dreams. Indiana 28, Ohio St 24. LFG!

  13. That’s great Adidas, thanks, but we need you involved a little bit before 12-0 and Heisman contention. We’ve got a big portal coming up and like it or not we’re one of, if not the best football program you have. So maybe throw some $ our way now for the portal and trust our staff. In return you’ll get that exposure you want… /rant over

  14. Personally, I love that the rest of the country - the SEC in particular - believes that "if Indiana can do it, so can they." Cignetti was a perfect storm and was both beneficiary and master of the portal and NIL. He brought 13 starters from a ranked team with him. He brought culture and expectations. He brought a familiar, successful, and experienced staff. The turnaround was rapid because of it and much bigger than any of us had a right to anticipate. What he did here cannot be duplicated. Ever. It was a one time event, managed perfectly with a very defined and singular set of circumstances. He was the perfect fit at the perfect time at the perfect place with the perfect circumstances. Lane Kiffin isn't going to do any more at LSU than he did at Ole Miss and LSU paid $70 million to find out. That will happen all over the country. And here we'll sit with everyone else wondering how in the hell we did it. They aren't paying attention to the why or the how. They care only about the "what." And we will watch them all go crazy trying to figure out what we already know. Curt Cignetti - first of all - is one of one. He's Bob Knight reincarnated....football version. The circumstances under which he came here and succeeded won't ever exist again. And it will never be "spending" that succeeds. You have to have what he does....an acute understanding of "how" and the discipline to stay with it. Anyone think Lane Kiffin can do that? He also got every move right when he got here and has continued. He is a leader and he builds leaders. I wish I had a daughter so I could introduce her to Aidan Fisher and others. I wish I were hiring and needed young people to grow and run my company. How many kids on that team will kill it professionally? I am going to truly enjoy the rest of college football chase and try to emulate what Indiana has done. The fools will never understand and I promise we will be the beneficiaries of the craziness.

  19. ^The headline was extremely misleading: “Heupel understands the restlessness among fans, but said nobody’s expectations are higher than his or anybody else’s within the program. “I wouldn’t want low expectations. That’s part of why I want to be here,” Heupel told On3. “We’ll win big.”

I don't think this story from Lasley is paywalled but if it is, in a nutshell Ristic could be on the court sometime this month. https://www.on3.com/teams/indiana-hoosiers/news/indiana-freshman-guard-aleksa-ristic-getting-closer-and-closer-to-a-return-from-injury/?fbclid=IwY2xjawOb2r9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEegm-vVTjImoLlCHa_ImZqq_EaFv7CO_naGB8F1nrL8K7usbCbNyBaQ-1Ltvs_aem_Wgo7kGxLjzHpWNTz2LDXeQ

  27. This is spot on. There is nobody else coaching right now at any level that has the ability to demand what Cignetti demands and keep everyone bought in. There is no “next Cignetti” out there right now. The answer he gave in yesterday’s press conference about whether the loser of the OSU-IU game deserves a bye is very telling. We know how every other coach in the country would have answered that question. Cignetti said his team needs to go out and earn it. Because he knows they will. Enjoy and appreciate what we have right now, my friends. We are the envy of every fan base in the country.

  31. Part II of Hoosier Fest in Indianapolis Rules How does this work? Each week I will create a Prediction League thread for the week's game. It's a simple concept: Each week you start with 100 points (only if a prediction is made, otherwise 0 points for the week) + 25 pts if you guess the winner - 25 pts if you pick the loser + 25 pts if guess IU score correctly (Up from 10) + 25 pts if guess Opponent score correct (Up from 10) - The # of points different between the actual and predicted score of IU (over/under doesn't matter) - The # of points different between the actual and predicted score of opponent (over/under doesn't matter) Also, the highest scorer(s) of the game gets 25 pts for a new maximum of 200 points. *** Reminder if you post a prediction and want to change it, please just POST a NEW Prediction, do not edit a prior post as I may miss those edits. The person with the most points (MINUS LOWEST GAME) at the end of the season wins. ONLY POST PREDICTIONS IN THIS THREAD, THANK YOU

  40. I’m still not sure what Ohio State has done this year to earn the level of praise they’ve received, which has “solidly put them a tier above everyone.”…They won @Washington and handled an incredibly overrated Michigan team? Texas was a mess to start the season. They did look better against Penn State than we did, but they also played a “different” Penn State team at home. We got Penn State’s best and final shot this year. OSU is not a great running team. They have a great o-line and passing game, but they haven’t faced any semblance of a pass rush this season. If we can make their offense one dimensional and hurry Sayin by a second or two more than he’s used to then I think we have a very good chance to not only win but win by more than one score. Give me IU 34-24.

I guess we’ll see but I’m really not feeling that one at all. He probably did about as well as you can realistically do at NW overall, but they were really bad his last couple of years. You bought Smith out for 30 mil to hire Pat Fitzgerald?

  43. If I’m Penn State running with their interim might be the best bet. Penn State was the only team all year to outscore us in a half. They ran with OSU for a half at OSU and they barely lost at Iowa. Not saying he’s the answer but I don’t know that their is a definitive better option out there for them

  46. I would say Minnesota is a very soft 4-4 at that, having lost to every decent team they’ve played and needing overtime to beat Green Bay. Tough place to play, but it’d be disappointing to drop this one.

  47. We can’t let ourselves lose to a 2 player team that projects bottom 3 in the league, even if it’s on the road. Especially with a possible loss against Louisville upcoming. Fingers crossed for a sneaky big game. Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners

    IUBB Shot Chart Thread

That’s where scheme comes in. Our actions are designed to free players in certain areas and to draw the defense to certain areas. In very basic terms, we screen, space, and move to open spots behind the three point line, and then flash bigs or drive guards all the way to the rim once the defense gets far extended. You are a guy that appreciates RMK: He had a motion offense that freed up shooters all over the court; that is, until the 1987 addition of the three point line and Alford. At that point, his motion offense turned into a scheme to free up Alford in deep space. That’s what he used for Jay Edwards and Evans too. Problem is, RMK never really had a shooter of that caliber after those three.
