  1. Kamara is coming back - BOOM

  2. @Napleshoosier I can see from the emoji there’s some confusion. Literally. I’ll be more hypothetically clear - say you went to IU and were a student athlete alongside one of the greatest collegiate coaches of all time in his sport. Say you were best friends with his son, who also played for the team, and spent most holidays with their family because you didn’t have a father figure. Say, dog nabbit, if you wouldn’t know it, that friend ended up taking over for his dad and leading the most successful athletic program at your Alma mater into their next generation. Maybe that friend has a front row seat at the table of the athletic department and his dad continues to have a say to future AD’s about how to build a championship program and the type of personality it takes at the helm. And maybeeeee that friend knows you’re a die hard IU sports fan in general and puts you in touch with a few people in high places so he can get you to stop annoying him and his dad for information whenever things are going on. Maybe, just maybeee, that person would have a conversation or two to wish someone, or multiple someone’s, a merry Christmas - that may or may not naturally lead into a conversation that gives this particular someone, some “inside” Information that he chooses to pass along to fans just like him, who he knows care as passionately about this school’s athletic programs. But maybe he thinks to himself, if I type exactly what I just heard on the phone, it’s gonna be pretty obvious to the person I just got off the phone with, that it’s me who is posting information on message boards. Maybe this guy decides to keep it simple but still pass on some interesting info for his online buddies - without risking a stern talking to from the people he considers family and/or a father. Hope this helps clarify. Happy holidays faceless names on a message board I consider friends!

  3. This is his last season coaching IU.

  4. His base of support is eroding. Not all of his supporters are blind to the product he puts on the court and they are coming to grips with his lack of effort in high school recruiting. Consider this my Christmas gift to all of you — Mike Woodson will not be our coach next season.

  6. Sorry my guy. There’s this thing called journalistic integrity. I don’t understand it at ALL… but on an unrelated note, I can only share so much on public forums with my pals without it getting back to my source, and ending our stream of information. So you understand…

  13. Brother, you’re welcome to check my posting history. Shoot @Chris007 a message or ping ESPZyn on Twitter - heck if you can find Birdman from back in the day, please, pull him out of retirement. We all private message each other to confirm we’re hearing the same thing from different sources. I’m not a troll. I’ve been here a long time. This is anything other than “thinking I have a (little) inside info.” Have a happy Christmas Eve and feel free to block me if you don’t agree with what’s coming from my account. :)

  14. I don't care if he's fired, resigns, or retires just as long as he's no longer IU's coach. I just want Woodson gone and I'm not too particular on how that happens.

  15. I’ll believe this is Woodson’s last year when i see it. That’s not a dig at anyone at all. My faith in IUBB doing the right thing is simply nonexistent.
    6 points
  16. They are going to handle this to give Woodson as much dignity as possible. It’s the right thing to do. But all the trends and all the momentum point to a 4 year window closing with a “retirement” or some other type statement to let the man keep his dignity, hoping and assuming this season doesn’t go completely off the rails. I know the ADMIN doesn’t want to waste a year, and that’s where things get really tricky. Because if we are a tournament team or a bubble team you start getting some portal overlap stuff happening and with a bare cupboard, you need a coach with connections to have followers or build fast. A lot of thought Is going into all this. I personally want to experience March Madness even though I know a Woody embarrassment will come quickly. Needs to be a well oiled machine. 18. The wild card in your analysis is Pam Whitten. Like her or not, she's a bad @$$ and wants IU athletics to be what it should be. She set the football program in the right direction, and even Cig gives her credit publicly. I am sure she's thinking basketball is up next as that has the IU tradition behind it. At least I hope so.

  23. "Fired" would be an acceptable outcome. A ticker-tape parade extolling how he "brought Indiana basketball back" or anything approaching that would be offensive to those of us who have endured this massive clown show (the "true fans"). He's thumbed his nose at us for four years and now he's expecting to be canonized on is way out? Nope. And contrary to what he might try to tell us, he has not done his job.

  24. For the love of all guys; it’s his last season. IU is a monster economic machine with incredibly perceptive people in charge. They gave him his four year cycle and now we will move on. I and others have said this so so many times. And it’s been constantly stated because it’s flat out true.

  25. 2024 Rourke was, of course, a portal guy. 2023 Mccloud was his QB and SunBelt player of the year. The previous year he was at Arizona and JMU was his third school. 2022 Centio was his QB and the SunBelt player of the year. The previous year he was at Colorado State and JMU was his third school. 2021 starter had been at JMU 4 or 5 years and then started 2019 starter was a transfer from Pitt. 2019 was Cig’s first year at JMU.

  30. How perceptive are they if it takes them 4 years to realize a coach sucks? Fire them all.

  31. While I appreciate the people connected sharing bits and pieces of information, let’s face it. Unless the source is Whiten, Dolson, Quinn or the King himself, it’s still just speculation. It may be 90% certain, but it isn’t 100%, and things can happen. The fat lady may be in her dressing room getting ready, but she ain’t singing yet.

  32. I agree, that’s what they will do but from many of us own perspective, he really doesn’t deserve that kind of send off because of the way he acted towards the fans, other programs, and even recruits. Someone posted a giant list of issues, imagine that here. But I will be glad he will be gone once and for all. I know it won’t be Brad Stevens, my vote is for Dusty May, since we probably need a younger coach. I would still love Bruce Pearl though, but that ship has finally sailed. Merry Christmas to all!!!

  33. There’s a bunch of us that have been saying exactly this for a good while now. I’m as excited about Christmas miracles as the next guy, but this is nothing new.

  34. I understand what you’re saying, and understand where it’s coming from. But based on Woodson’s attitude and arrogance, I’m firmly in the “scorched earth” camp. I have ZERO respect for the man and what he’s done here.

  35. I was little confused by the reading until I read up further. I usually read from the most recent up! I have no reason to block you or anyone else! I wasn’t trying to get you on the defensive side of things. And I don’t have time to go back through anyone’s post. I just try to read the most recent posts.

  36. Cal forum insiders were saying he turned down 1mm from them, and I read a few things talking about 2 from us, so that’s probably close. I’d be curious about what UGA offered. Cal people are pretty pissed at the kid for saying he was “always a bear” at some Call event on December 10 then entering the portal on December 11. So who knows, but he was wanted by a few huge programs, so no way we got him cheap.

  37. I’ll be interested to see how he recruits high school with a full cycle to play with which should really be the ‘26 class. ‘24 was a wash and just keeping who we had, which obviously has an effect on ‘25 + new coach unknowns. We are not an unknown anymore and neither is Cignetti, so ‘26 on is where I think we start to see gains in high school beyond what we are used to. I will say I wouldn’t be surprised to see QB continue to be a portal focus year over year, but I think that market is going to become much more competitive. Guys like Rourke have shown that being productive at a lower level can translate in a big way.

  42. While I tend to agree, it’s an arrogant elderly alumnus legend who I believe truly wanted to do something big and couldn’t live up to his own hype. I think he made a lot of bad decisions along the way, some based on politics, and the like, but it’s been a trying/dividing time the past 4 years and he happened to get sucked up in some of that. I think he has a tremendous backing and the Twitter alliance is a thing of beauty when things are going well. I think this season answers questions and his recruiting the past 2 years answers just as many. Anyway, he’s definitely done some things to spurn a lot of fans, but the administration is in a precarious situation because you want to handle things professionally and allow the man to maintain dignity as much as possible.
