Looks like he just changed the announcement time to 5PM ET today.

I think the real recruiting is gonna start when the portal opens. A lot of players who lost their coach and don’t have a replacement hired.  Or if they get a coach hired that’s when the portal opens early.

Line is what I’m curious about. We need more depth there. Mendoza has been getting assaulted the last 3 weeks

I’m honestly not sure I see us making a huge splash at QB. I’m sure we bring in a veteran to compete, but everything I’ve heard says the staff really likes little Mendoza.

 

who knows though, Cignetti might have some great prospects lining up to play for him.

who knows though, Cignetti might have some great prospects lining up to play for him. 

With the momentum we have - a likely heisman finalist/first round pick quarterback and an 11-0 start - it’d be coaching malpractice not to try to bring in another top portal guy. Mediocre quarterback play can sink a great team. If we had stuck with Jackson this year instead of bringing in Mendoza we’d almost certainly have at least 3 losses right now.

The staff did not stick with Tayven Jackson; here's why: They saw him every day in practice and decided he wasn't the guy.

If we don't bring in a likely starting QB, it will be because the staff sees Alberto Mendoza every day in practice and has decided he is the guy. I cannot imagine there is anyone that doesn't completely and unequivocally trust this staff's judgement at this point.

Also, for filing under FWIW; In his post-game presser after the Wisconsin game, Fernando stated that Alberto is regularly outperforming him in practice.
