southernindianahoosier2 Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Just now, Trish said: Woodson mentions he needs to add some pieces. Why in the world would any transfer want to come play in this terrible system? Why would we even offer Queen? So we can play 2 bigs again???? At what point do we scrap it? Seems like our options are, give him 1more year to figure it out and completely change EVERYTHING abut his system, or make a move for someone new... Given I think Shertz, May, Beard, and Shrews... All of whom I think were better than Holtmann, Archie, and Mack during our last search... Why wait one year for the inevitable?

Bankshot Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 - Consistently having a successful strategy/approach to the game, fundamentals, execution, and talent to be nationally competitive. - Being consistently ranked in the top 20 to top 10 in the nation. - Finishing in the top 2 or 3 in the Big Ten. - Winning at least two to three games in the NCAA tournament, annually. Those used to be the minimally acceptable requirements for Indiana basketball. Used to be. JF87 and WayneFleekHoosier 2
Hornsby Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Woodson mentions he needs to add some pieces. Why in the world would any transfer want to come play in this terrible system? He might be able to get a few players but what is the foundation.. Even if we get Queen it solves nothing. We already have a queen. Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk WayneFleekHoosier 1

Hornsby Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 It would also be our 4th coach in 17 seasons. But I'm the one twisting things to fit a narrative. Yep we keep changing coaches but it's because me make bad hires. We either decide we are going to make a real hire or just stick with woodson and hope for the best. If you fire him and don't make a real huge than yes just keep him cause it won't matter. If your not serious about a legit hire it's all pointless to keep changing coaches Sent from my SM-A146U using Tapatalk taco corp, AZ Hoosier and WayneFleekHoosier 3
Popular Post southernindianahoosier2 Posted February 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2024 I've seen a lot of "we can't fire Woody in year 3 because you can't just keep firing coaching every 3 years... Where's the stability"..... Stability comes from having built a strong foundation in the program. A program with a strong foundation can plug a new coach like Kevin Ollie and he can win a National Championship, fire him, and a new coach comes in and wins another national championship. Same with UNC. How do you build a strong foundation without a practice schedule? Tom Crean could have coached at IU for 40 years and regardless of when he leaves its a "total rebuild" for the next coach. When Archie was hired he had to rebuild the way IU schedules and budgets for non-conference games. That's just 1 of 100's of things that are the makeup of a program. We have cracks in the foundation of the program as a whole, we're a losing program/business and it permeates every aspect at which we operate. Thats why its always a rebuild for indiana, we haven't had a coach to make the necessary program changes or an AD to hold anyone accountable for foundational stability. Do we expect mike woodson to care about the smallest details and take full ownership and build out a program and then communicate his vision on what he's changing to the fanbase? No. We need a coach who wants total control and ownership of the program and runs it like the CEO. Whatever coach can come in point out what we're doing wrong and be a control freak to fix it and build a solid foundation is the one I want. Trish, DB Hoosier, JF87 and 11 others 13 1

I do really like Gabe, but he’s not going to be the stud Indiana needs.

Popular Post JSHoosier Posted February 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 11, 2024 If IU was actually serious, making the tourney would be absolute bare minimum expectations and the play in game would be a disappointment; it definitely wouldn't warrant a raise. Instead it's viewed as a big accomplishment and gets a pay raise. I'll say it again, take away the name Mike Woodson and not a single person would like this hire.
