No question a meeting took place after tie IL fiasco.  Probably more a damage control and what if type meeting.  Not a decision meeting.  Woodson isn’t going anywhere at the moment.  The math still works to get to 10 wins and possibly the tournament.   NW isn’t doing all that well, so a win there isn’t out of the question.

Agree completely. However, no concern there. We have nobody on our coaching staff the admin would ever consider hiring as the head coach on a permanent basis. Mark that down. Fact.

Are we sure Cheaney would not get a look if he took over and had decent finish? IU has not exactly been smart with coaching decisions recently. Better to not have temptation there if you ask me.

No one thought Diebler had any chance and then he got it full time.

I want to believe you, I really do.  However, we were dumb enough to hire Woodson in the first place so nothing would surprise me from IU.

To anyone who wants Woodson fired midseason for interim see OSU. Want no part of a dead cat bounce from an interim who then gets job full time completely screwing program as has happened to Buckeyes.

Woodson needs to go but after season. An interim now could do way more damage to program long term if they do well and are kept which could absolutely happen. Want no part of Jake Diebler Ohio St situation.

If our administration can't tell an interim that it's only until the end of season and then we find a new coach, I will drive over there and do it for them. "Woodson is out, you're the interim but at the end of the season we're finding a new coach." Seriously. Doesn't matter how well they do. Just do the best you can but once the season is done it's HC search time. If we get our a$$e$ handed to us by Northwestern our only hope for the next home game not being truly embarrassing is if the students do actually protest and not show up. At least then the chances of the "Fire Mike Woodson" chants will be a lot lower. It will still be a chit show though.

I used to worry about the interim getting hot issue, too, but agree that no assistant would be made head coach permanently. The issue I see is the smoke that Woodson is going to get fired mid-season. Given that we kept him after last year’s training wreck, I just don’t see IU pulling the trigger. Why would they mid-season? Don’t get me wrong. I hope and think they should. I just don’t see it as a real possibility.

I would imagine the interim title would come with a different contract for the coach that is chosen to do it. IU can write into that contract that by entering into the interim position, the interim cannot be a candidate for the head coach vacancy. I have seen this done with interim superintendents in the school system.

It’s games like this……. yet there’s still the elephant in the room. Will it still happen? If it’s not this weekend, they are just prolonging the inevitable….we are just not that good of a team.

Positive. We won’t go down that road again. Former player with no head coaching experience. Dolson won’t take that chance again. Also Calbert isn’t interested.

Agree. Don’t see him wanting the job full time.
