Popular Post Lebowski Posted October 27, 2024 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2024 Not gonna lie, the current focus in this thread is just dumb. IUFB is in a position the vast majority of us IUFB faithful have never experienced and you're focused on the off-season? Rat poison. Enjoy this ride and focus on the present. mamasa, thebigweave, Artie86 and 6 others 5 4 Quote

Indiana opening the wallet to hire him slightly above dead last in pay. If you think money isn’t important you’re being obtuse on purpose. We gave him more money for assistants and more money than any IU coach ever and we still are at the bottom of the B1G. He will get offered huge money this offseason, I hope he declines but we are going to have to push the salary to top levels or he’s gone. It’s simply reality. We will have to pay him that's for sure, but I don't think it's that simple. One thing that I don't think people are fully appreciating is that no SEC school is going to let him bring his whole staff with him. They are going to require him to hire people with recruiting ties in the South. And I think he is very loyal to his staff. southsidehoosier and LockdownD 2 Quote
Popular Post Pudman Posted November 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2024 My wife grew up in rural Oklahoma in the late 80’s, where high school football players are gods and untouchable. Her high school even produced a heisman winner. But the culture around it and her community was toxic. That culture turned her off not only from football, but from sports until recently. I’ve always been a sports fan, and it’s really been my thing. But, it’s now our thing, and I love it. It started with Teri and IUWBB. She loved watching her coach during the games, and listening to her post games interviews and her approach to coaching and leadership. And now, it’s the same with football. She loves coach Cig not for the fact that we are winning, which is a plus of course, but for the leadership and culture that he is building. She now sends me Cig interviews. We talk about his perspective to leadership and development and how we can employ it in our approach to teaching and working with our students as faculty at IU. And, we now plan our Saturday’s around every game :) Hoosier Roots, Crimson and Cream, J34 and 5 others 8 Quote

Popular Post Brass Cannon Posted November 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 2, 2024 Can anybody even remotely tell me a more successful coaching turnaround? Coach has already matched our win total for the last 3 seasons combined. And doubled our conference wins from that time span. I’ve been racking my head trying to think of a comparable analogue to this. And I can’t. Joe_hoopsier, Home Jersey, go iu bb and 6 others 9 Quote

I’ve been racking my head trying to think of a comparable analogue to this. And I can’t. Think of all the restless fans of other programs who will be unhappy with how their coach's first season is going and point to what Cignetti has done here. We're setting a standard that will be just about impossible to replicate. We're probably also going to prompt Purdue to fire Walters pretty soon, which annoys me not only because I like Purdue being awful way more than them being good, but because I was hoping they'd make the mistake we've made many times of thinking just giving a bad coach more time will fix things. I'm confident in saying that if Cig leaves it won't be because we wouldn't offer him enough $. And that terrifies me. Quote
