Curious what folks around here think. Curious about this as well... Assuming that him and Dolson had a very frank conversation, and Cig's vision included improving several areas Indiana is lacking or has lacked in the past (NIL, Recruiting Budget, etc...). If Cig was Dolson's guy, and he clearly laid out his vision and plan, it could be as simple as IU is coming to the table and committing to the entirety of that plan, and not limiting ourselves in areas we can control to win games, be successful and not simply limp into bowl games here and there. cthomas Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 If he coaches half as good as he talks, we are immediately better. This is a step up in competition but I like that he is confident he can handle it. We need what he brings as a coach and we also need better players to move significantly up in conference. But, that said, better coaching probably has us in a bowl this year. iuthruandthru, Redcamaro, go iu bb and 2 others 5 Quote

He brings a high level of expectation and winning mindset, and is expressing it for all to hear, with confidence...what that does for a locker room and a team is huge. Change the culture, change the mindset..."High standard, high expectation, high accountability". Anddd I just ran through the wall. thebigweave and go iu bb 2 Quote

Heck, there are several posters here who would just settle for "Kentucky like" results and go to a few bowl games. He's made it clear -- he expects to play in the B10 Championship. thebigweave 1 Quote

TTT Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 There should be two happy coaches: one who receives a pocket full of cash to work to clean up a mess and work to make some IU football history. The other receives a pocket full of cash to leave an unpleasant situation and start a new job/career life on his own timeline. thebigweave and Tom White 2 Quote
monskisprodigy Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 I loved his second answer on NIL... Said we won't have the same resources that other top teams have, but that wont be detrimental...said he would love to see the price tag of the top guys compared to their production...it's all abut how you evaluate and develop kids...his worst transfers at JMU were power 5 kids, best were FSC kids. We won't likely ever compete with the big schools for NIL dollars...but Coach Cig is making no excuses.... thebigweave 1 Quote

As for the last sentence, I agree. This team could have gotten 6 wins this year. Looks possible next year, too. thebigweave 1 Quote

The problem is we're used to the football team being bad and the administration not seeming to care. If they start winning, and doing it consistently, I think you'll see the NIL dollars increase. If they start winning big like the big schools do? Well, I think IU can compete. A lot of ifs in there (and big ones at that) but winning changes a lot things, including how much money fans are willing to part with. rcbowla, J34, monskisprodigy and 1 other 4 Quote
