I feel bad for the guy.  Unless we make a financial commitment we are spinning our wheels.  Love his passion and what he stands for. Although I fully understand the need to move on, but we’ve seen this song and dance for 30-70 years.

Which likely means that Dolson already has a vetted head coach candidate.  Outside of our view, there would have been inquiries made, consultants that do the behind the scenes communications and background and networking.  The final decision, of course, would be Dolson's.

  After next week's possible announcement of the negotiation of a separation contract...a recommendation committee will be put into place.  The short-list of candidates will then be made.  Not many actually will be made public to protect those coaches' present positions.  Dolson's most-likely favorite will be on the list.  

And voila, IU enters a new era.

The new coach comes in and is introduced.  He will say things that the AD wants him to say.  New culture.  Discipline. NIL.  It's not your parents' football program.  I've got new ideas.  Upgrade offense, defense, coaches. POTFB.

Tom Allen may make about $4.5 million and is apparently the 38th highest salary for an NCAA football coach.  UW football coach Kalen DeBoer is the 44th highest-paid coach in NCAA college football, with a total annual pay of $4.2 million.  Just giving these for reference.  And I did not check those salaries closely.

I don't. He'll be paid a s***ton to not coach at IU after he's been a s***ton to do a terrible job.

Well they could keep T.A. around as team chaplain 

T.A. like many others of the past in losing situations will feel much better after he goes through this and gets this mess behind him.  After licking his wounds and a vacation and when he chooses to start a new job…defensive coach, head coach high school or small college, A.D. IU lol small situation, or even NFL position. Happier times ahead for T.A. and $millions of dollars.

That's when it's just fans saying he needs to be fired. This year people in the media are saying it too. Not firing Allen says, "we don't care about football." Not firing Allen and but also not making a statement says, "we really, really don't care about football. In fact, we couldn't care less. I'm not even going to bother with the effort to address the elephant in the room, that's how little I care." 

I'm not sure that's what he wants people to think

If the basketball rumors were true and he had Brad as his #1 certainly interested and when that did not happen he was able to get a strong #2.  The #2 then was allowed to build a staff a developmental group and other core staff members. 
 

I am hopeful he takes the same approach with football and goes hard after his top candidates, has a backup plan and can also build a strong overall program/staff.

Yeah with basketball the media could act like it was just IU fans being unreasonable. In this case, Allen is 3-23 in the conference over the last three seasons. That’s about as bad as you can be.

Firing Tom Allen would be a start, but we have to make a wholesale commitment to football.

If we don't, our next coach will still get Tom Allen results.

From what I’m hearing, the rumor mill is churning in Bloomington pretty heavy. I find it very hard to believe he will still be leading this program after the bucket game.

Nope.After the Purdoooo game for an announcement.

The team might find out close to game time and I hope they do. I think we may be good enough to beat the bastahrds if our guys are hyped enough.

One rumor definitely made me ‘chuckle’…but fixing this program won’t be child’s play.

I’m just hopeful we make a serious hire this time and get some buzz around the program.
