I’m not saying it’s logical from the fans perspective. But it’s very logical from IU’s perspective.

No, it’s not. Explain the logic like I’m 5.

There hasn't been any "news." It's people trying to decipher cryptic posts and tweets and letting their emotions get the best of them.

Ok guys.  Help a girl understand.  What are the strong reactions against Brad Brownell and all the love for Ben McCollum about?
I get Brownell hasn’t got to the tournament much at all, but he has been at flipping Clemson.  He has had, count them, 1 losing record at a football school deep in ACC country which used to be arguably the best conference in basketball.  IU is not too big for him.  McCollum has been in D2.  How do we know he can handle this job?  He is a huge risk.

For me it's about hiring a coach with championship experience. I personally think that should be a requirement for this hire. If IU can't land established D1 coaches with championship experience McCollum is my next choice. The more I learned about him the more I was sold on him. He's a unicorn in my opinion. I believe he'll be able to handle any job he takes. I just hope if he's coaching in the Big Ten it's in Bloomington because any other place we'll end up hating the guy.

When you start hearing rumblings from legit media you know it’s close.

This is the issue. You're hearing from actual media people now about Brownell. Thamel before and now others.

That is the troubling part.

I enjoy this thread but it’s cracking me up.
This morning we had Brad Steven in the bag (again) and now it’s Brownell??
He is a lot better than Woody but I agree with those that say he wouldn’t be on the radar if he wasn’t a native Hoosier (not a good reason to hire him)

On the other hand…..who the hell knows who is really on Dolsons radar? Can’t wait to find out.

Personally, I never thought Stevens was in the bag or even much of an option. I appreciate that Chris etc are willing to share what they hear but some of them felt good last time then we spent 4 years repeatedly finding out why no one wanted the guy the hired.

IU has given us no reason to feel confident in this search.

I wish people would hold someone like @Stuhoo accountable like they do us when he guarantees it’s not Stevens. I haven’t guaranteed a single coach yet.

So you’re holding fast on the hire being a HR & you can confidently say it’s not Brownell?

I also wanted to believe that the BS (pun intended) hire was happening.
After the initial jolt of happiness I questioned if the guy running the Celtics actually wants to spend a ton of hours watching high school guys playing in small time gyms.  It would a great hire but I don’t see it.

If I’m Brad Brownell, do I even want this job?

He’s at a place that’s happy enough to keep him employed for mediocre results. Guy has to be self-aware enough to see that he could be fired in 3/4 years at IU

If he's got family in the 812 then yes, he probably would want the job.
