This. I really don’t think this can be overstated. Can anyone (USPS maybe?) remember a major scheduling non-con series like that being announced without the coach in place? Seems highly unusual to me. The head coach is normally very involved with that process.

Cronin not very popular in the poll.  He has been fairly successful, so I wonder if it is his style of play, personality, or height (hey, don't blame me someone else brought it up)?

IMO when IU fans talk of Stevens they think it’s 2015 not 2025. Stevens most successful college teams were 15 years ago now! He hasn’t coached college in 12 years. The guy will never live up to the expectations even if we could hire him with a record contract.

Also, put me down for being absolutely thrilled if it’s Dusty. I was saying the same last year before he did what he’s doing at UM. The guy gets it and is an incredible coach. I would be thrilled with Brad (of course!!), but won’t be surprised in 20 years if we think, “Man, why didn’t we hire Dusty?!”

I wasn't going to jump back on the train this time around, but based on a few people I know (somewhat close to the situation) I've decided to jump back on!!  All aboard!!

Even If Brad hasn't coached in over a decade, im counting on his basketball knowledge as a whole. Everything basketball he's done, he's done to damn near perfection! With his basketball prowess, I have zero doubt he could step right back into coaching and win and do it big!

Nonsense.  He’d easily be one of the top coaches in college basketball day 1.  With  our resources he could land almost anyone he wants.  Think what Scheyer face is landing at Duke.

I can’t remember off the top of my head but I have seen coaches come in and get out of some games that were scheduled and add some of their own.   Definitely odd.

I have extended olive branches and tried to find common ground with almost every poster I disagreed with (except NGW that guy can eat a bowl of lukewarm d***s, but I digress). I’m sure plenty of folks know I am liberal with the unlimited likes if someone makes a good point or funny post. The like machine goes brrrrrr sometimes, (sorry guys I like bourbon). I think you’ve made some good points, delivery notwithstanding. That said, I’m gonna let you in on a MASSIVE secret here:

We all know on some level, landing Brad Stevens is a long shot, hence, white whale. But it’s fun to talk about, it’s fun to hear rumors about. You know what’s not fun to hear about? Me, defending Mick Cronin compared to Buzz Williams lol, That’s not fun for anyone. Obviously, until option 1 is a no (it’s not yet) and we move to the obvious option 2, we will have fun discussing option 1.  
 

And if you want to discuss or debate other options, plenty of people will join in (me too if it’s pro-Cronin in tier 3..skewer away fam). And the mods here are great, and super knowledgable, they’ll jump into just about any coach debate with pros and cons even if they refuse to give me emojis. 
 

TL;DR: Brads a long shot, we know that.

Any thoughts on if Dusty did not want fishbowl of UL would he for IU?  Would he leave safe and successful Michigan?
