That is a little misleading.  Sadly, RMK passed away within the last year.

I do not think that he would toss his hat into this ring.  I don't believe that he is that flexible./s

Going though my list:  Mike Davis; Kelvin Sampson; Dandy Dan D.; Tom Crean; Archie Miller; Mike Woodson...

I am done with Stevens and Donovan. Discussions about coaching changes are, in my opinion, the most exhausting we have. I get the frustration with our current situation but to hit the reset button again so soon just feels painful.

Some do you won’t buy into that no matter what, so let me try a different approach on why it is a VERY bad idea.

You know all that NIL that everyone loves to talk about. It would be vaporized with him. You can say new fans etc would come in if he won etc. but the real money is from very specific places and that money wouldn’t support this. You also lose minimum 50% of fans even if you win. 

He honestly isn’t even that impressive anyway as a coach. There are better options. Kind of odd how hung up some are on him. 

Yes. I just don't get it. He had a couple of good NCAA runs but has had only 1 full season at the P5 level with less than 10 losses.

Actually the one that I laugh at is the reaction if Dolson would have rolled out Tommy Lloyd. A 20-year Asst at 1 school. The meltdown would have been volcanic. Pretty sure Arizona’s ok with that call.

Similar to Roy Williams' resume. He was a UNC assistant for 10 years before getting the Kansas gig. Was a high school coach before that, but no big-time head coaching experience when he got that job. Hard to imagine that these days.

Why is he still a premier candidate? He hasn't coached college basketball in a decade. Surely if he had any interest in returning to this level, some program like Duke or North Carolina who just had openings would have at least dialed the phone, no? He's got a comfy executive job coaching one of the most prolific professional franchises out there. Not everybody from Indiana who liked IU basketball 30 years ago as a kid has to take the job.

Coached in the toughest conference in basketball. Beard wins and he wins quick. He doesn't need 2-3 years. You may not like the guy off the court, but his teams play the exact same way every one of us wants to see IU play, hard and smart and for a full 40 minutes. If the goal for Indiana basketball is to get back to the top, Chris Beard is an absolute no-brainer. From a pure coaching standpoint, IU isn't going to get somebody better.

I think the best thing to happen is Dusty May and his team making another run.  

The people (former players) that are close to Woodson tells him he did a great job, got us back moving in the right direction, had some success against Purdue, got us back in the tournament, etc.

Tell him we got a young IU guy that wants to come back home that could be here 25 years.  Tell him this is the year we need to get him because if we don’t someone else will.

He is not getting fired and this is the only way I see him leaving.

Like I’ve mentioned before, I almost wonder if the Dusty May thing had already been talked about with Dolson. I’ve heard/saw somewhere that when Dusty signed extension with his team there was a clause that enabled him to leave for IU. Dolson getting Woodson could have been a part of a plan that includes what happens AFTER Woodson’s time here. Hire Woodson to get the ball rolling again and repair what needs to be fixed, and then when he’s ready to give it up, we move onto the next planned step. I’m not gonna sit here and say that’s a sure thing and claim as fact, but it’s certainly a scenario that could have some validity to it. Just a matter of when.

I agree that Woodson won’t be fired, but he could surely have some people talk to him about a job well done, got things back on track, now let’s hand it over to this next guy who can put in this work needed for the college basketball landscape while you ride off in your golf cart enjoying life and still be a part of the program in a different light.

I mean I think Dusty will have an uphill battle but I want to see him try.  I could see some continuity with this approach and limited hurt feelings.  At this point I’m open to a lot.  
 

Id be very curious with how roster construction would go with May.   
 

I think CiG is gonna learn that the B1G is a different animal here in a year or so relative to the talent he’s used to.  I think May could have a tough struggle too, but I would be excited to see a faster/more modern style of basketball.

Dusty was at Assembly Hall last year after the final four run. He was also back in Greene County at Christmas this year. So there have been chances for them to talk.
