I think Magnamious and Ryno may be the earliest ones I'm aware of! It would be a long shot to hope for more of a name, just not where IU is as a program. I don't think this Goodman tweet is definitive by any means. Not gonna pull a championship caliber coach. Gotta find someone undervalued. Douchey analogy but ... like stocks, buy low, sell high. Better him than a "proven" P5 guy who has been mid most of his career IMO. Eventually they will get it right. Lot to like in McCollum's profile. Yes it's a risk. The upside makes the fan in me feel excited, not doom and gloom. Google him. He wins. (I know that's getting old already lol) I think I would rather play in the crown tournament then go this route. We’ve got a Archie Miller part 2 upcoming. Has no idea what it takes at that level to win and recruit. F me. Why would you say that. Just because Archie couldn't handle it doesn't mean McCollum can't. It would s all about personality and a belief in yourself and it seems like McCollum has that HoosierSadaseci, cybergates and Ryno6284 1 2
Popular Post BehindTheBench Posted March 13 Popular Post Posted March 13 You don’t fire Woody mid season to hire some guy D2 guy from Drake. I’ll say, my one source was someone in the athletic office. As of weeks ago, heck, even over a month ago, it was Brad. Up until about two weeks ago, it was Brad. He’s since gone eerily quiet, which I assumed was a good thing. Apparently he went quiet out of shame. If this is true, what an utter failure on Scott’s part. Brad was literally in the bag. I’ve been ready for a different brand of ball for 8 years but this is a bold move. Let’s see if he can out-Purdue who is a genius basketball mind plus experience. That’s gonna be the goal but he is way behind the 8 ball. If he gets star talent he won’t be adept of the hangers-on and agents etc. And if he doesn’t, winning is hard. Just a risky as hell hire. Trish Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Ben wins, just google him. Problem is, does his style of play translate to high major basketball? We just rid of an old man that played slowed and shot a low number of 3’s per game. HoosierSadaseci, JustWinBaby, realTomCrean and 3 others 5 1
HoosierDYT Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I can’t help that my first reaction is meh which I feel will be common amongst our fans. At least it’s not Brownell which would’ve been straight disappointment. But something like Lloyd/McDermott/Drew would’ve ingested a fun energy this program needs. Nonetheless gonna root hard for him and at least can see the vision that it could work out really well for us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk thebigweave 1

Remember last time Goodman said Holtman was almost a done deal. I would absolutely be thrilled if it was that at this point. coonhounds Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Honestly less excited than I was for the Woodson hire and that’s saying a lot because I hated that hire too. Slow paced boring offense and zero clue the athleticism that will be needed to win at this level. He’s in for the rudest of awakenings. Most coaches don’t need rebuilding phases in the portal era but McCollum is gonna need a few learn the ropes seasons. Indiana isn’t the place to do that. F Me again. Slow down wayne. Thankfully this hasn't happened yet. Sent from my SM-S926U using Tapatalk

WRSMick55 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 you can coach, then you can coach. And as for recruiting, the pool of players one can recruit in D2 are not for most part D1 level players, they’re not going to go d2. so if his players were good enough to win like he has then he must recruit pretty well from the available pool. So why do we think all of sudden he won’t be able to recruit from the available D1 pool of talent? Not advocating, have no horse in this race but I could get behind him. He just wins. cybergates and HoosierSadaseci 2
