I agree with you here.  We shouldn’t be aiming for just “better than Woodson” with this hire.  IU needs to hire an elite coach.

It will be alright! Whoever they hire will be well vetted and ready to lead the program to prominence once again. 

There is no sense in freaking out over every rumor. Out of all the current coaching vacancies, this is the only one not leaking.

Why do you feel they can’t sniff anything out?  Because they aren’t reporting what they hear to the masses and 100% lose their access.  Makes sense

The fact they have done nothing outside of “hotboards” is not normal during coaching searches and shows how little info they have been able to get.

To add some light to this, he could be getting info from low/middle-level donors too, since it sounds like multiple candidates are being thrown around. Judging by what is being said on here.

Here is my only thing with Goodman… When he tweets things about candidates being out…. He never has a follow up tweet. So his claim those guys are out… Okay but “if you have sources” wouldn’t you have an idea who would be next in the pecking order…. He quick to throw names out but in this case he doesn’t…

That actually is fairly normal for local reporters.  Unfortunately we have had much experience since the turn of the century to see what is normal.  Your 247/scout/Rivals is their model to sell you stuff.  Local reporters?  Osterman, ITH, etc. leave it at a high level reporting to not be biased as to piss of IU (it does and we found out when Terry was writing for us - they didn’t like our negativity).  That’s part of the reason this website almost merged with Inside The Hall almost a decade ago.

Edit:  If I mixed up my BTB and HSN again, my apologies.  Whenever Terry wrote for us that year before he passed away.  Only part of that I am not 100% on.  Been on too many IU boards.

Just my guess, but most likely his info is coming from agents, coaches, and others in the college basketball world, which IMO would be a more accurate gague on whether a coach is no longer a candidate or not. 

It's just a logical inference that if you've heard that those coaches are out, then Dolson is moving down his list. IMO the "moving down his list" part is just a logical conclusion, not part of the sources info.
