I personally give the edge Big East because they have produced 4 national titles. B1G ranks ahead of them by Warren Nolan’s metric. I’m sure kenpom ranks conferences as well. My point was the Big East is major conference in basketball and he has been coaching in that league and doing well. People act like he coaches in the MEAC 2025 Big 10 2nd, Big East 4th 2024 Big 10 3rd, Big East 2nd 2023 Big 10 2nd, Big East 3rd 2022 Big 10 3rd, Big East 4th Per KenPom. To your point, clearly a power conference and pretty comparable to having success in the Big 10. HoosierSadaseci, 8bucks, thebigweave and 2 others 3 2

Popular Post IU Prof Posted March 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2025 I don't think it's totally implausible that Woody would have heard Brad was out of the running. If Brad's statement to Goodman on the 14th was definitive, then word may have reached Woody. That would also be consistent with an interpretation of things going silent since then, insofar as after Brad, Dolson may have needed to wait until mid-March to seriously pursue any current coach. Not saying that's necessarily what happened, just that you can come up with a plausible story (although I know some of the insiders will say that's not right...and perhaps rightly so). lillurk, CSP, HoosierSadaseci and 5 others 7 1

Buddy, there’s no way a coach that’s as disgruntled as Woodson is going to know who the next coach is or be remotely involved in any coaching process or decision. If he is being told anything it’s all a fluff job. If I remember correctly, Woodson has a huge ego that needs to be fed. lillurk 1

Popular Post tyappleg Posted March 4, 2025 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2025 Considering Woodson isn't even doing radio interviews anymore and seemingly burning every bridge on his way out. Also complaining to national media about him not being the coach next year, even though it was presented as his choice. I don't believe he knows a damn thing about what Scott Dolson is doing. He might think he does. Not saying Stevens or Drew will be our coach, I just don't think you can take anything he says seriously. go iu bb, FritzIam4IU, Silat Player and 9 others 12
lillurk Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 McDermott to me is in the Cronin tier, different pros and cons and might be a temperamentally better fit but you trade some of that with age and it’s about a wash. Good coaches, would probably not bank on an IU title under either but Final 4(s)? Maybe. str8baller 1
IUBtown Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 Can see Woody not giving a damn about who the next coach is and saying so. He's too busy coordinating his vino relocation. Chris007 and MemphisHoosier 2
lillurk Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 I also think that if that’s Woody’s take it makes some intuitive sense for someone aware of/interested in the search but not necessarily plugged in. The guy who said he likes his job and the guy who got an extension are out, this guy who knew Bob Knight really wants it? Lots of folks turning into the game tonight are in the same info environment he might be and feel similarly. Doesn’t mean they’re right. Chris007 1

Papacap Posted March 4, 2025 Posted March 4, 2025 If Scott is just passing along info he’s been told, I don’t think he’s trolling. If he is, seems like a weird way to do it. But I also don’t put much stock in anything that would come from Woodson. Maybe he’s right. But given his bias and ego, not trustworthy. Having said that McDermott would be great. Comparing him to Alford is silly. And I don’t really care what he did at Iowa State. His teams would be fun to watch and would win a lot of games. But having said thaaaat, he’d be in the second tier for me so let’s get this done. Ctf9, HoosierDevils, HoosierSadaseci and 2 others 5
