That’s where my brain wandered to.

If IU didn’t have a coach, why would Dolson say they are creating a GM role to work with the HC next year.assuming he’d be okay with it (though most probably would be). Why would zellers name be rumored to be in position for that if we didn’t know who HC was. Why would Zeller be at HS game “scouting” Jonathan Sanderson. Do we know someone who might be a candidate for IU HC that also was a person the recruited Zeller? Coincidences? Does Dolson actually have his guy already? Kent thinks so.

Did Dolson actually say that? I've read that that is the general trend these days... and the first I heard about Zeller in any role was earlier today... so, curious if this is real or just another smokescreen...

As far as Kent Sterling goes, several around here have said as much based on their connections and what they may be hearing... So, if anything, I'd say the Sterling thing might confirm some news, but it's certainly not "breaking news"...

Not saying you're wrong, or making this stuff up, but I have a hard time believing we have a coach and staff set up already, yet none of this has leaked out?  That's a lot of people doing a heck of a job keeping secrets...

I was thinking the same. I guess I could see the coach having a list of people he'd like for the roles then Dolson (maybe even the search firm?) going from there.

Even then I'd have a hard time seeing a staff being put together without word getting out, too many people involved to have control over the flow of information. Heck even if there was an agreement with a new coach it'd be a pretty good hush job to keep it from leaking.

I guess I shouldn’t have said “Dolson said” because obviously it was rumored he was creating the role. So hand up, my bad there. But Zeller and Jordy’s names have been tossed around in the “GM/Asst GM role”

I hope Dolson does have his guy... but honestly, for all but a very few around these parts, this thread is 99.9% speculation, guessing and in-fighting about the merits (or de-merits) of candidates.

I wasn't questioning your post your intent... was just curious, because, as you say, I've heard rumors, but again, it all seems to be "best guesses" around here for the most part... no harm intended.

Pfft, next you're going to tell me not to get news from Facebook.

The game/s getting scheduled has always been the red herring to me.
Nobody will answer to that but at face value you don’t do that now without coaching approval and a generalized approach. Or at least you shouldn’t.

I don't know how it works, but my assumption is that the HC has input into future opponents, but I also know that some things are done at a higher level (resuming the series with Kentucky, for example)... and even without a coach in place, we need to have opponents schedule for the next year or two, at least...

It will start to come out. If you notice, it got very, very quiet for a while. That was a good thing, and very much by design. This hasn’t been an overnight thing. Scott has been working on this for quite a while. The plan is coming to fruition

Be honest you and I both know there is very little coaching news because nobody knows anything. You came in here to cause trouble. You still haven't said who you want or think will be next coach?

Yeah, that struck me too. There still has to be a schedule next year, but I'd imagine a new coach would want input.

I keep reminding myself that Calipari and Self make 9 million a year and I never would have guessed in a million years that Indiana would pay a football coach 9 mill a year but we did. I don’t know what we need or are willing to actually pay to land a big fish but the people in power are starving for success finally and I think fully want to do great things. We have lots of money, and I don’t exactly know how all the donor stuff works but I’m expecting a big move.

It’s curious because UK and UL are willing to go big and kept “missing”, ultimately to still get good coaches. So you’d think a big payday would be hugely captivating but those searches didn’t seem to demonstrate that.
