If it’s Brownell then IU is completely content with being a barely mediocre program. I just can’t buy into that if Dolson truly loves this program and wants what is best. It’s completely obvious that Brownell is not even a top 20 candidate, and no way it gets down that far. taco corp, VFury, Dave from Dayton and 4 others 6 1

Let’s quit all of this nonsense of spending all this unnecessary crazy buyouts and keep it simple. Hire Chris Beard, end of story people. Even Slick Rick Pitino is trying to tell SD. Just do it! im tired of .500 (at best) in the B1G and losing to ******* Purdue LOL, Beard is .536 in conference in 8 seasons of Div 1 coaching thebigweave, Dave from Dayton, go iu bb and 2 others 3 2
Dave from Dayton Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Just now, Hoosierfan2017 said: I won’t turn this into a duffel bag conversation given that it doesn’t really matter anymore with NIL, but we see what all the goody two shoes moral preening got IU over the past twenty years or so. Rules that were never enforced might as well not have even been rules. Winners get celebrated by the NCAA, even when we all knew why they won. I don't see IU's coaching selection process as goody two shoes moral preening. I see it as really bad decision making. Moral preening had nothing to do with Sampson's firing. It had everything to do with lack of oversight and bad decisions in executing damage control when stuff hit the fan. But hey, we all want IU to win. And I can understand the point you made. We need a winner. And no one is perfect. But if they hire someone who has a history of straying. Then they need to do some serious oversight. And have ramifications if IU is going to get sandbagged. Remember, IU gets a lot of goodwill out of sports wins. It goes the other way when politicians start defunding education when they see things that they can weaponize. Avoid that please.

Artie86 Posted February 22 Posted February 22 …….I’ve been a believer and optimistic since the get go on Brad Stevens. It’s been no secret. I’m fully prepared to accept if it’s not him because I have full faith in Dolson and his eventual choice. There are some on here that still emphatically believe, 100% it won’t be him. To each his own. I have not, nor will I belittle posters for their beliefs one way or another as some continue to do. IF, Stevens has been Dolson’s guy all along, the powers that be have done a masterful job at keeping this locked down. If not, those powers that be also did a masterful job disguising it, too. Just believe, is all I have to say. We are in great position with the AD, President and boosters to finally be attractive enough to make and land a great coach no matter what happens. This definitely won’t be a thud hire. Go IU! moyemayhem, J34, 8bucks and 3 others 6

It's basically like reading BTB. Rupp Rafters has like ten threads of just round and round about Beard. No one is changing anyone's mind. It certainly is not unique and IU fans are not just being sanctimonious. Almost nobody needs a choir boy, but there are lines for folks, and the Beard issue is one them. I will trust Dolson, but assuming UK and UL did not kick the tires before saying no thanks is simply being obtuse. Possible UL never even considered him though given their history. (Several UL writers said as much after a simple google search). Chris007, 8bucks, PartyintheVillas and 2 others 5

So glad he's gone soon, but wish he was gone last year... he's screwed up this program more in the past 4 years in more ways than we can count, and walked away with $20M... Maybe he went down there to dissuade Sisley from coming? Just kidding.
8bucks Posted February 22 Posted February 22 10 hours ago, Hoosierfan2017 said: Eh not really. This day his first year IU was 16-10 and had lost 5 straight. His first year was real mid. Wasn’t that the one year where we finished higher in the BT than preseason expectations? At one point we had one of the top defenses in the country. Going into year 2 he had momentum and expectations rose and from the on we underperformed. Year 2 we were projected to win the BT and still came in second but he needed success in the tournament to help seal the deal and that was a flop.

Take that for what it's worth, but my feeling is that May has been told and that is why he signed an extension. As others have said, things aren't making a lot of sense right now. Scott is still doing his due diligence, but why has all the information suddenly stopped flowing? Maybe I'm delusional or it's just wishful thinking, but I think things aren't making much sense right now for a reason. Scott has been conducting this search for over a year now, IMO. I agree with this take and at the very least I think the info is slowly starting to flow again. Hoosierfanyuh, RaceToTheTop, lillurk and 23 others 26

Sent from my iPad using BtownBanners He’s a decent coach, but that would not be fun due to the fit being so-so at best and there being better options out there. I would initially have a visceral reaction, then I would rationalize it and have some optimism, then it probably doesn’t go well and I have to back off my pro-Dolson stance, and finally I just follow football until the next coaching search. I still trust Scott right now. We really don’t know what he’s up to. WayneFleekHoosier 1
