Ole Miss basketball coach Chris Beard quoted Bob Knight, his mentor, during a game against Kentucky. Beard said, "That's Bob Knight. Victory favors the most aggressive team, and the team that makes the fewest mistakes

The Pitino endorsement may give us hope.

And while I have not been looking for him I don't recall seeing him at games recently. But again, I am not looking for him so he might have been at every game.  Did hear that he was "verklempt" about the condition of IU b-Ball though.

He was there last Friday night. He was talking to one of the refs and I yelled over put that guy in a used Hyundai.

It will piss many off when he’s announced but it won’t be long into his first season before everyone realizes that he’s the real deal.

He’s the exact kind of coach that this fanbase would fall in love with.

I’ve made my opinion pretty clear. I think Indiana should hire Chris Beard. The upside risk is far higher than the downside risk.

“What if he gets fired a year from now and we have to hire again?”….then we conduct another coaching search. You’d think we would be good at it by now.

Since we won’t consider the most obvious choice, then the next choice is to take the very best guy available after… that’s McCollum imho.

Very very well said!!!   Beard for coach!

Was at an Andy Mohr dealership on the Westside of Indy several years back and the salesmen looked very familiar.  We got to talking in-between car talk and then it hit me that this guy looked like Randy Witman.  Turns out this was his brother and after i asked if he was related he then showed that he was wearing some slacks that had a Cleveland Cavaliers logo on it. Randy gave him a bunch of stuff after he was fired from the Cavs.  He even brought Andy Mohr in to try and close the sale but we did not buy the car.

Hopefully Andy does not try to put us into a used Cavs coach.

I’m home sick. My wife kicked me to the basement so she doesn’t get it. I’m sitting at my bar, cocktail, edible and watching Dusty & Izzo. Sky looks fine to me

Better off than me. I'm stuck doing just about nothing for a couple weeks after having a lump cut out of my back and so I'm watching Wall-E with my oldest daughter. Missing Smackdown and UM-MSU.

Interesting Reading other message boards from rival schools and they think May signing gives Beard more of a chance at IU which scares them because, as one poster said “Beard would be scary good at IU.” Just noting who our rivals don’t want us to sign.
Yes because they are smart. They know he is a hell of a coach and would win big here. They also probably root for a school who if they had a chance to land a home run like beard it would happen. However the joke is on them! We are iu and will not hire a top coach because he made mistakes in the past!

Until a new coach is hired, I'm choosing to believe it's Stevens.  No inside information.  Just being optimistic that something finally goes right for IU basketball.

Puts more pressure on the new coach however if the next coach wins big then missing out on Dusty May last cycle won’t be a big deal however miss on this hire and May continues to build Michigan up then it becomes a very big deal.   IU is going to get a very good coach this cycle

Imperative!!!  I think we are in dire strait, IMO

Seriously?  I have watched more basketball than most people on this board besides OldFart and a few others. This guy has coached in D1 less than 1 year.  There is a major difference between D1 and D2.  The program is at the point where we can’t base it off of a possible what if, they need a guarantee winner from D1.  I am not saying 4 or 5 years from now that he wouldn’t work out but IU just can’t and shouldn’t take that chance.

Of course. We were told this wouldn’t go past our top 2 and #2 is off the board.

Welcome coach Steven’s!!

Let’s not totally discount May. Yes, today sucked but the extension is not necessarily a deal breaker imho.
