They should just ask, it’s a huge story. It’s another reason the IU job is great. No need to answer hard questions if you don’t want to. Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 From Dusty's portion of the postgame presser and a question specifically about our newly opened position. Michigan HC Dusty May, on whether he'd have interest in the newly-open #iubb job: "That stuff's crazy. I love being at Michigan, I love our team, we're fighting like crazy. That's it. This place is my foundation, but I'm very very happy at the University of Michigan." thebigweave, T White, lillurk and 2 others 5

steubenhoosier Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 Not sure why there’s an up in arms reaction to Woodson’s not discussing his retirement. The official statement said that he would talk about it “at the appropriate time.” They are going to manage and control every part of this process to ensure that nothing is said to denigrate the program. Open a press conference to the media and who knows where the conversation goes. They managed the discussions leading up to the announcement. They managed the announcement. They will continue to manage this up to, and through the naming of the next coach thebigweave and T White 2

On the other hand, we learned a lot more about Dusty May's 2nd half coaching and effectiveness. Also something about the guard part of the roster construction. Strikes Dusty May off of my BINGO card. Bowhunter Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 We had our chance to hire him. There were several of us last year pleading for it. If we don’t get Dusty, it’s our own damn fault ! WayneFleekHoosier, Iufan93, Jeff Flabjohns and 4 others 7

JSHoosier Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 May wouldn't be my 2nd or maybe even 3rd choice. I wasn't particularly excited about him last time, today didn't change that. Ryno6284 and Alford Bailey 2

If he’s that sensitive then IU should’ve “retired” him effective immediately. Retiring him mid season because he’s terrible at coaching but then letting him finish out the season is just silly. I’m just saying that they have laid out how they are going to handle this and they won’t sway from that. It’s not so much to protect Woodson. It’s to ensure he doesn’t go off on the people who he thinks “forced him out.” rcbowla, thebigweave and Iufan93 3

WayneFleekHoosier Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 Yeah, I’ve been saying I think it’s gonna be May. It makes perfect sense. I’m not completely stoked about it, but I like a lot about it. It seems like the Indiana/Dolson track of doing things. I think all the Stevens talk is dream work by insiders. This one makes sense. We could certainly do worse. Idk. I should be really excited about it. I think he’d recruit Indiana incredibly. He’s very well liked. Lots of good things. I’ll warm up to it. (Still predict Fife, Howard, and maybe Mullins joins him). Am I crazy? Probably. J34, Asha’man, thebigweave and 1 other 4
Hoosierfan2017 Posted February 8, 2025 Posted February 8, 2025 IU needs to win the press conference with whoever they hire. The fanbase is about as pissed off/on edge as a fanbase can get after the past 9 seasons during which we’ve won a whopping 1 tournament game. Trot out some middling guy and the temperature will still be scalding hot. Whoever comes in isn’t going to get 2-3 seasons to “figure things out.” They will need to win immediately.
