I really hope that the administration is just biding it’s time until the coaches in the tournament lose. Interview a few former players and let that out so the ‘we need an IU guy’ fans contingency is satisfied. Calbert Cheaney would be great in literally any position other than head coach at IU and I’d be happy for him to join the staff. But you can’t make him the head coach.

I’d still take Woodson over Calbert. Don’t think people realize how much the experience Woodson has could be an upside for us.

Me too. With Calbert waiting in the wings though I'm on board

Meh. Where are Lewis and Fife in this scenario... I definitely want Mike Lewis on staff...

Still have 2 slots for assistants. Go ahead and bring whomever.

Hmmm. @Chris007 said Cheaney got a courtesy interview yesterday via phone... at least that what I thought he said.

Could be he was called back for a more formal interview via zoom.

I don't know about you or your source, but I find this more credible than almost all the rumors.

I understand that I haven’t built credibility on this site as I’ve been in and out for 5 or so years.

BUT(!) I can assure everyone that my source won’t know know every detail or will choose just not to tell me every detail. I’ll just pass any info on that is shared with me that I’m lucky enough to receive. I do know what is shared with me is straight from inside the athletic department.

I’ll do it for 900K a year. Let the assistants make more than me. Hire an offensive and defensive coordinator. Recruiter.

I call the times outs and stand up, work the sidelines / refs.

So pretty much continue doing what you already do but from a better seat.

Who is the most obvious, non-controversial, at least somewhat plausible candidate that has had the least amount of smoke?

Christopher Michael Beard.

Been saying it and saying it, but my gut says its gonna be him. Probably wrong, but I want to at least try to speak it into fruition.

I'm with you on this.

Our coach next year will either be Chris Beard or John Beilein.

Just guessing, don't ask me how I know - I don't.

Well to be fair I do a little bit of coaching myself. But yes, would love the job. I’ll start tomorrow.

Question is by who? Athletic Dept, Media, ourselves?

Grifters and trolls.

I do think all this strum und drang is fun/funny and even occasionally informative, but it’s all just biding time for Beard or Musselman.

Yep. I mean someone earlier mentioned how in the last 3 hiring processes how none of the coaches (Sampson, Archie, Crean) were thought to be the favorites or the most talked about candidate. I would imagine that the same thing is happening hear.

Yeah, it’s appearing pathetic at this point. No offense to the Indians guys but they have virtually zero college resume.  Indiana isn’t the ideal spot to learn on the job.

It’s getting depressing. I’m losing faith in Dolson even though I know we know almost nothing about the search. At this point, with some of these names being thrown out it’s going to look like a good hire if whoever it is has college head coaching experience. I think Woodson is a very bad candidate but even his coaching resume looks great compared to Cheaney’s.
