BM isn’t my favorite candidate either but you have 0 evidence he won’t work out until he actually coaches.

Yeah, he's a slight lean towards the will work out based on his past.  You just never really know and it could go either way.  Odds are he'll have some growing pains though.

Archie was a HC for 6 years, I think McCollum will be going on like 16-18 years if he were to be hired… big difference IMO.

Fair.  It seems like the concern is that McCollum “hasn’t proved it at the D1 level yet”.

It's scary the amount of people who seem convinced he would kill it here because he won at d2 and they are impressed the way he talks about x and o's. The fishbowl could swallow him up in two seconds and I'd love to hear the excuses at that point.

I'm not convinced he's going to kill it but I'm willing to give him the chance.  He says a lot of the right things, things we bitched about other coaches not doing.  If he's as calculated about basketball as he is the other aspects of being the head of a program like IU I think he'll be fine.  Everyone who's been a great hire had someone take a chance on them.

Fair. Some people say Archie had the better resume bc he had success at the D1 level.

The Archie thing made me re-evaluate how I look at coaching resumes, and give more weight to comparative success. Archie was very good, but there have been a lot of good coaches at Dayton; I now think that a coach like Miller would be expected to have a team with more favorable predictive metrics than Dayton ever had during his time there.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I think that's a relevant insight.

I think Archie had a solid resume, yes.

He had a good resume with a good run but his lack of personality should have been a clue.  But coming off Crean who could charm anyone we went too far the other direction and assumed Archie's lack of personality meant he was soley focused on basketball.  I got to meet Archie and before meeting him the guy from IU basically described him as this quiet but great basketball nerd.

Thing I like about McC is he has established a way to win.  Similiar to Cig, he knows how to run things, how to prepare, how to outcoach.  Now he needs to show he can also recruit at a higher level the coach the higher level.  Definately a risk, but if not getting a big fish might as well try for the next big fish vs a retread

You love the attention especially when pushing the Stevens narrative then play innocent when questioned or wrong.

Ah. Old AB with his classic AH routine. At least he stands the rest of time.

And no, AH does not stand for another certain member here. You can figure it out if you use your imagination.
