We have ample room for a guy who can get and make shots. That skill is sorely lacking.  The one who doesn't fit is DeLoach.  Given the rest of the roster there just isn't a place for him.  If he ever got more than a handful of minutes, something has gone horribly wrong.

Obviously the staff is interested for a reason. Maybe he is part of a position recruiting board and he is second or third on the position list. We seem to have gone all in on the portal to address our needs. We have four spots to fill and we are looking at multiple players to fill them. I don't necessarily get it, but the staff knows way more than me.

That Twitter account is classic. People have been doing this with mlb and nba free agency for some time.

You tweet a bunch of rumors as fact - some of them will hit, so you can say you have sources. Then you delete the tweets that were wrong. So when you do the same thing next year, people go back to your tweets and say “wow look what this Twitter account got right!”

I definitely think there are random people out there who find things out and break news. But no one has sources everywhere.

We worry about the defensive end until the point we are screaming to score on offense.

If we worry if Knecht can defend B1G athletes shouldn't we also worry about Ledlum being able to?  His tape is against Ivy League and he's not exactly an elite athlete himself.

We're not going to find a perfect player in the portal, and still have to score points.

Bingo. 80% of defense is just hustle. You hustle and you'll be in pretty good shape. Not everyone can't score. And for the past however many years, we've been begging for dudes who can get buckets that play the 2-3 spots... Ledlum and Knecht are those dudes and we are worrying about their defense instead. We have XJ at the point of attack and about to have Ware to clean up anything in the paint. I think we will be fine defensively. No reason it wouldn't be a Top 40 defense.

This. We've just not had a team that could stick with other teams when they got really hot. That's a necessity in 2023. I"m not saying defense isn't important, because obviously it is. But with the widespread use of the 3-pt shot, and spread offenses with bigs who can step out and the shot clock, teams can really get on a roll. We just didn't have the capacity to score with teams (on a regular basis) when they got on a roll. Hence, we got blown out in some games.

We need more offense. Period. If you look at the teams that advanced in the tourney this year, they all had guys who could go get tough buckets and score. They also had junkyard dogs on D. I agree with the folks who said that we really missed XJ for that reason. Love him or hate him, but he brings that attitude. I hope that Newton and Cupps bring that going forward. Could use a lot more of that attitude.

But, the bottom line is that you can't have too much offense if you want to advance in the NCAA tournament. It's been that way for a long time. You have to. Think back to our last title. We don't get past Auburn in 1987 if we couldn't outscore them, and that was in the 2nd round. Or, obviously UNLV. We weren't going to hold them to 60 pts. LOL.

So you think the staff will pull the offer? DeLoach is fully aware of Ware by now. He has been following and interacting with him on social regardless. Was on with X and Ledlum this weekend live as well.

I dont think you can ever have too many 6'6" to 6'9" guys on a team.  Problem with both DeLoach(zero 3 pt registered attempts according to ESPN) and Sparks(career 17% 3 point shooter) is they don't shoot 3's or if they do its such a small amount.  Ledlum is a career 29.4% 3 point shooter(3 years), Ware 27.3% 3 point shooter(1 year).

If all three committed to IU to play the 3/4 spot, where would our 3pt range come into play?

I don't think you have to pull the offer, I just think DeLoach won't consider IU anymore when they have gotten two kids who play the same position. Why would you want to come to a school when you're a backup?
