  2. I just went through 17 pages and only saw Pam Whitten mentioned once. I could be wrong because it was a quick glance and I didn't fully read every comment. But it's nuts not to recognize the value of leadership from the top. When she became the 19th president of IU on July 1, 2021 is when the budget, spotlight, and resources shifted to the true revenue maker in college sports. She understood this on day one. No other president in the history of the school ever made such a paradigm shift for the university. And it paid off. It didn't happen over night, if you recall IUFB shook the trees for a couple of years prior to Curt Cignetti. They, meaning the top brass (Whitten and Dolson), built the infrastructure, hired the right staff, moved to contemporary jobs, and, most importantly, raised the funds that were needed. Once that happened, they did the coaching search. It took roughly 4 years to get to the point where IUFB is today. I firmly believe had any IUFB coach gone 6-6 or 7-6 over the last two years he'd be in an incredibly hot seat right now. The vision isn't 6-6 and that started when Whitten got hired. The brand isn't 6-6. Having a shot at the CFP is the brand. Understand this. Bloomington is now a place to be on Saturday's during the Fall. 50, 60 thousands come in and basically get a Little 5 every home game. This is the IU student experience today. The fans are showing up! This is her vision. Whitten and Dolson aren't done. IUBB will reap the benefits of her vision. Revenue. Revenue from IUFB will help this process. If DeVries doesn't produce to a standard, he'll be gone. That's the M.O. of this current administration, as it should be in my opinion. Coaching matters. You either have it or you don't. Is the IUBB culture dead? No. Does it need a jolt? Yes. But make no mistake, the top brass isn't treating IUBB like an intramural sport. Give it time and have faith.

  4. Have watched him since he was about 10 playing with Jake Davis and Logan Imes on the AAU circuit as well as thru the Carmel years and he has always been a skilled perimeter kid that grew into a stretch 4. Seemingly would be an ideal shooting/spacing forward off the bench that can guard a little bit in the post. Question is whether his long time family ties to IU win out accepting that role over the chance to start and play more elsewhere such as for Alexander at KSt. My friend knows him and the family and he seems to think he will end up at IU.

  6. Twitter and social media all over TKR this morning. Fans are finally realizing what we knew all along -- he gets away with a TON of dirty sh*t. And he's a flopper, too.

  8. The satisfaction of watching Sampson’s season ending title free each year is almost indescribable. Probably akin to those old ‘72 Dolphins popping champagne when the last undefeated NFL team goes down. And this time being offensively inept for 37 mins while losing a de facto home game is extra awesome. God, I loathe him.

  13. My hot take, I'd probably rather return Miles than Dorn. I don't think Dorn is great ROI as just a catch and shoot guy. He can't affect the game positively in other ways. You can get a catch and shoot player for cheaper, probably, IMO. Miles is a plus defender and rebounder. Has B10 athleticism. I think he could be a net positive if the game slows down for him a little mentally next year. Ultimately I wouldn't be so upset with either leaving. I'd prefer Sisley, Miles, Andrej and maybe Harris if I could choose.

  14. I like Dorn but from the outside looking in it would seem like his asking price as a B1G starter would not be great ROI. Suspect defender and adds little-to-nothing outside of streaky shooting from 3

  15. Maybe it ramps up the noise externally. Internally at IU, I don't think that stuff adds pressure for him... I think he's running his own race, so to speak. Which is fine IMO as long as he's moving at an acceptable pace.

  16. Maybe I’m taking crazy pills but hasn’t height always been a key element in basketball? I think because Woody only focused on bigs and woody wasn’t successful, IU fans got this weird notion they weren’t all that important to success.

  25. Seen some reports this one might be one to keep an eye on. Big name in the transfer portal with Talexa Weeter out of Fort Hays State (D2). The 6’0” junior guard averaged 27.5 PPG, 8.9 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.0 BPG & 1.4 SPG in 31 games this season. She was the NCAA D2 scoring leader this season.

McCollum is the first first-year coach in the modern NIL era (last couple years) that’s made the E8. KSU guy did a few years ago but that’s before everyone was shuffling players. Either way, it’s dang impressive

McCollum engineers so many match ups and calls great plays out of timeouts. They were trailing by 10 points most of the game. Both coaches made a ton of adjustments not only at halftime but within each half. Until Nebraska blew a tire in the last two minutes it was a pretty good coaching battle IMO. McCollum definitely has the secret sauce that winners do.

  32. The weirdest thing to me was Juwan Morgan's senior night speech. I remember him not even mentioning Archie Miller. Pretty sure he thanked Crean and the previous staff for recruiting him, but he didn't mention Miller by name. He was at IU for 4 years, but he definitely thrived under Miller. Miller was the one who essentially made him the focal point. Probably wasn't the best decision, but you'd think Morgan would be thankful for being showcased by Miller like that. Always thought that said a lot.

That is fantastic news. Trent Sisley is pretty much a canary in the coalmine as to whether team culture and staff development was up to par or dysfunctional last season. My other hopeful tell? On senior night, every departing player, even Conerway, gave a hug to and posed for family pictures with Devries. Never saw that with Archie - methinks most players kinda hated lil' Arch.

  46. According to ChatGPT, the record is four teams. It’s happened twice. ACC did it in 2016 (UNC, UVA, Notre Dame and Syracuse). The Big East did it in 2009 (Villanova, Pitt, Louisville and UConn). In 1985, the Big East got 3 teams to the Final Four with Villanova, Georgetown and St John’s. Villanova won the natty.
