  2. I’m not sure how I stumbled on it, but this appears to be a non-AI photo of Malik Reneau in line for some pizza after their game today. Other tweets lead me to believe he ended up with chicken tendies. Either way, I find this extremely funny and am left with a bunch of questions.

  3. If we acted like a serious program we wouldn't have hired Woodson to begin with. Though we definitely waited to long to rectify that mistake. I'm so tired of our fans being blamed for the program's struggles. Are there some knuckleheads? Absolutely. Same as any program and especially programs with the history of IU. We've missed out on landing top coaches because stupid internal politics and/or waiting too long to get rid of bad coaches.

The giant gust you just felt was Darryn Peterson exhaling now that he can leave Lawrence.

  6. Good for Otz. You rarely see a coach completely flip the script on style. He went from grind it out mugging basketball to this high flying offense. Pretty impressive stuff. I wouldn’t mind seeing them win it all.

Confession: Now that IU is the undefeated National Football Champion a Puredoo win here and there doesn’t bother me nearly as much. Or maybe it’s because I’m becoming more mature. But it’s probably the former.

I love a coach that isn't tied to a specific style. Coaches the roster he has and builds around their abilities. Of the realistic options (though not sure he was actually realistic), I think Otz was my #1 hope last hiring cycle for Indiana.

  10. He wasn’t going to leave Michigan after a year and restart. That’s a very important detail. I know from a great source he would have taken the IU job in 2024. Nothing ugly happens in Bloomington. This isn’t South American soccer. You know, if IU fans are as bad as you say, I don’t know why you don’t cut ties with IU sports. Why associate with such terrible toxic people?

Disagree; it’s sooo easy to throw shade at Purdump: We are the undefeated defending football national champions; they are good but endlessly “hopeful but disappointed” in basketball. We have a beautiful campus; they have a parking lot in a cornfield campus. We have arts and great food in Btown; and they have blah-meh-ick. We have beautiful, interesting women and intelligent, handsome men; they have cows and pocket protectors. We are the state’s flagship university; they are just a name. We are IU; they are PeeYew.

  15. Agree on the roster building. We absolutely need a top flight PG. That is a must. Can't "Enright" or "Conorway" that position. Get a long, athletic big, and then surround those guys with dogs, athletes and playmakers. Add a shooter or two around them. This offseason needs to be a big swing. Were like an NBA team that's in the play-in every year. At some point this program needs to make a leap and get some momentum. It's needs to happen.

  16. Lol. Even if you ignore Crean’s abysmal record at UGA with a generational talent in Ant Man (btw Mike White, has won a lot more at UGA than Crean, which isn’t saying much) I’ll repeat…He still had burned a lot of bridges, especially in-state, indicative of him handing out scholarships like candy. The program also had multiple embarrassing moments including anumber of arrests under his watch, and another incident where one player quite literally ran over another with a car…moving on from him was the right move. It was time to move on. He had 9 years.

Can’t lie, Reneau ending the Smith/TKR/Loyer triumvirate of d-baggery would be immensely satisfying.

  19. On3 reports we're making a run at Cornell guard Jake Fiegen entered the transfer portal last week and has emerged as one of the top players to enter to this point. The 6-foot-4 grad transfer averaged 17.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this past season, while shooting over 41% from three. He will have one year of eligibility remaining. Others mentioned are 'Nova, O$U, Wake and Vandy.

  23. It’s basically any fanbase with size and losing results. Kentucky fans are definitely the worst of the worst though. And their results aren’t even that bad. The one that got me this year was the Purdue fans turning on Braden Smith and Purdue this year. It just goes to show you can’t be thinned skinned and you can’t worry about the vocal minority. The staff needs to be equipped to educate the players how to handle it. Woodson and staff/players went about it every wrong way possible. He was not the right type of leader to handle fan adversity. Still has his defenders going against the fanbase on the daily.

These schools never learn. If his name was Harry McNamara and he’d played at UVA and had the exact same resume they wouldn’t have wasted a single breath on him. But, hey, 3rd in the MAAC, you just can’t pass on an alum with that level of accomplishment.

  28. Multiple things can be true at the same time. Tom Crean is a solid-to-good coach. But it was also time for the program to move on. It was the right move, the IU administration just botched the subsequent moves like it has for almost 25 years. You don't achieve what Tom Crean has achieved without being a decent coach. He's been to a Final Four, an Elite 8, 4 sweet sixteens and has two outright regular season Big Ten Titles (in years when the Big Ten was really tough). You don't stumble upon that type of success. He also has a long list of underrated guys that he's helped develop into legit NBA players, while also having the really hyped guys he's put in the NBA. He's not great, but he can coach. But again, it was definitely the right move to go in another direction, the administration just screwed it up, like they typically do.

  32. Keep in mind Gonzaga gets to direct more or less all the rev share they have into bball. I'd guess that gets their total roster budget into the $7-8M+ range, but I'm just guessing. They're still at a financial disadvantage, just not something crazy. I don't have anything against Mark, except that he has seemingly flirted with every big job opening for like 10 years and it's gotten a little old. He probably could have had the IU job last year and got an upgrade in resources. But, he's too big of a wuss to leave the Spokane area. Coward! Come to IU and miss the tournament like a man! ;-)

  33. The key to Nebraska's final possession: a pass. One guy didn't try to do everything by himself. That's too easy to defend. Pass. The. Ball.

  35. Crean's last 4 seasons: NCAA 5 seed - sweet 16. NCAA 10 seed - first round exit. Missed tourney. Missed tourney. Woodson's 4 seasons: NCAA 4 seed - second round. NCAA 12 seed - first round exit. Missed tourney. Missed tourney. Crean's last 4 years, combined 38-34 (52.8%) in the Big Ten. Woodson went 41-39 (51.3%). So I guess it makes sense that the same poster who was so adamant that Woodson needed more time, also wanted to give Crean another decade.

  37. I'm hoping to see multiple high level talents represented by the same agent. It well tell me Mr. Carr is connected and we have the resources. What we know won't work is a team full of mid to low level d1 athletes with impressive numbers.

  38. We just hired a guy away from a good P5 program. The list of college programs that can do that is incredibly short. Woody was just a dumb Fred Glass move. Archie was the top target that off-season. Crean was a P5 hire. So was Sampson. At any random time we could’ve hired guys like Beilien, Pitino, or May. We could’ve hired guys like Golden, but other programs saw the potential in them and hired them first. We just let guys like McRobbie and Glass be in charge for long stretches. That’s an unholy combination of dumb and unlucky.

  40. He has a good approach to the portal. He brought Henderson with him from Duke. He decommitted and followed him to Miami. He was a shark recruiter so he will be a hit with the recruits. He wants to build from high school kids but in the portal is focused on local kids that went elsewhere and want to come back home. Thinks with those kids even if it’s for 1 year they will have pride for the program. Malik, Donaldson, and Edeh, Marcus Allen all kids from Miami or the state of Florida

Henderson is just a man. The idea that the most physical dude in a tournament game is 19 is pretty nuts. The Purdue kids don’t want any part of him.
