  1. Just bumping this thread as a reminder that Purdue sucks and has no championships. Man, they are garbage. Lol

You should rename this "Time for Moren to move on?" What if it turns out she has cancer or some illness? She has been a great coach for a long time; it's just that the consensus seems to be that she is burned out, and cannot bounce back--for the benefit of IU, the fans, or herself. Mack Holmes said that CTM was the most competitive person she ever knew, so these recent failures must really bother CTM. If CTM could bounce back, we would all be thrilled, but at this point, it just seems extremely, extremely unlikely, and the whole thing has become a painful ordeal for all involved. Just a thought.

"Time For Moren to move on?" is absolutely the appropriate name for this thread and it matches what has happened to Joe McKeown recently at NW recently who was the best coach in history of program similar to Moren and is retiring after season. As I have said, the future appears bright with the new recruiting coach and recruiting class but that only applies if Moren's heart is still in the job which I do question. It is indeed odd that she seems checked out on bench and uses no timeouts when other team is on a big run. Her and Dolson need to sit down after the season and decide if she is indeed wanting to do this still. If this is all just a bad recruiting year and cleaning up from Linda Sayavongchanh lack of recruiting, then Moren absolutely deserves to stay and give it a shot with these new elite players coming in. If she is burnt out and her heart is not into the modern game and NIL, similar to McKeown than an identical retirement is best path forward. Which one it is needs to be looked into carefully by Dolson and proceed accordingly. As for new coaches, my vote as I will continue to say is to get Shauna Green if we can some how pull her from Illinois as most realistic high end candidate who would thrive here and fans would fall in love with even more so than Moren. If not, a Glen Box reunion is the realistic choice. Again though, it all depends on if Moren wants to continue to do this and she owes it to fans and herself to be honest and decide if her heart is still in it.

We can debate expectations all we want, but I think everyone would agree that a P5 coach in her 12th season should never be 0-10 in the conference under any circumstances.

  5. FWIW per the betting markets right now IU is -290 to make it and +215 to miss. I’m not going to try to adjust for the juice, but this implies we have about a 75% chance to make it right now. A long way to go, but those aren’t the worst odds at the moment.

  6. News like this is always welcome! We have 5 nattys in basketball, albeit ancient history, but we have them. We have a shiny new natty in football. Purdue sucks. So do Michigan and Ohio State. This morning's coffee is awesome.

  9. You make this point every season, you are always 100% spot-on when you make it, and still people assess the situation differently. It must take great self-control not to type "pay attention--this is reality!" And that reality is: the one thing that is all but certain is that things will not go as expected for pretty much any bubble team. We may win at Purdue and MSU, and dump the home game against Oregon for all I know. Probably not? Sure. But when a team has 10-12 games left to build their resume, the odds are overwhelming that it'll win a 40/60 game or two, and lose a 60/40 game or two.

  10. The next two are tourney teams and on the road. Split the two and it is 100% a net positive.
    4 points
  11. They got USC in the next game. If they lose to ucla then they still have a chance to leave LA with a split and that’s honestly what should be expected is trying to split between 2 teams on the road that are lower seeded projected tourney teams

  12. Bruins have lost starter Skyy Clark. They have a glue guy Trent Perry that is stepping up somewhat. This game is going to be a tossup. One poster on Bruingold posted yesterday an observation about IU: "They're much better than their record. Only one bad loss (@ Minnesota), and they like us just beat Purdue at home. They're a good team, very efficient shooting, score a lot of points, good defensive rebounding (not great offensive rebounding), and get to the FT line reasonably often. Don't score inside much at all, don't block many shots. In a lot of ways, they're a very similar team to us, with the exception that they shoot more efficiently, get a higher percentage of defensive rebounds, and we force more turnovers. Heck, they even play two PFs at center most of the game like we do for some reason! We have played roughly similar schedules, with the difficulty edge going to Indiana. There is another factor at play, though: Indiana has a brand new coach, and his team is getting used to his system and playing more cohesively now, hence their best win of the season against Purdue this week (Purdue, meanwhile, has now lost three straight...). They'll be coming into Pauley with a lot of momentum, and we will have our work cut out for us, especially after two pretty lackluster efforts against NU and Oregon." Background on Trent Perry, now a starter...and their team: The Trent Perry Dilemma that is brewing for the Bruins

  14. They could win at UCLA and then lose 9 straight. UCLA game is just 1 piece of the puzzle. People thought they should have won at Minny and they lost. People thought they would lose to Purdue and they won. IU is bubble team that will have plenty of opportunities to play themselves off the bubble or play themselves out of consideration

  15. DDV has quietly put together a top 15 recruiting class. Definitely some misses many of us were bummed about in September/October, but 3 program foundational recruits + returning contributing players like Dorn and Sisley and maybe Miles, Drake, and Harris. Obviously still need an inside out big man and it would be great to pickup a high level primary ball handler, but it should be easier to drop the bag rather than needing to manage the budget for an entirely brand new roster top down.

A quick Google search also shows that she is a Cubs fan, so you can count me in on her. Taking a coach from the Illini is also a plus.

She has turned an Illinois program around that was worse than IU into a solid team. She plays with a system that includes slashing/driving athletic guards that fit the modern game really well. Her press conferences are some of the most intelligent and technically sound out there. She has a lot of Moren's values, but is a much softer version of her (in a good way) and someone who would instantly become beloved as the face of the program. Green also seems like a super nice person. Moren is an excellent coach and a great face of the program, but has a gruff side to her that is entirely absent from Green's personality. Basically she is everything Moren is without the two small flaws of being a bit outwardly gruff and much better adapted to NIL and modern game.

    2026 IUFB: CHAPTER 3

I’m sure this was always a stepping stone. He came from the NFL. He’s likely got aspirations to be an OC. He was an asst qb coach prior to coming to IU. He took the year got experience as the main QB coach and co offensive coordinator. If he isn’t gone this cycle and develops Hoover into a superstar then he will be gone next season. I saw him and Cig disagree a few times during the season. I doubt it was much more than Cig being Cig in the heat of the game. Whitmer will be a big loss when he leaves. I do think he likely brought some things in that Cig will continue with even after hiring the next QB coach. I’d be shocked if Tino isn’t waiting in the wings to come back.

The Josh Shertz effect at SLU: Nothing going on tonight so thought I’d grab a ticket to SLU-Dayton. Yeah, no. Sold out. Aftermarket starting at $200. In 13 years in St Louis I have NEVER not been able to grab a good SLU ticket for a song. Telling ya, if he gets and keeps it rolling there that is a really good job and it’s gonna take a really, really good job with a really big check to get him out of there because SLU can pay.

  27. Put me down for "cautiously optimistic". The win over Purdue has buoyed my optimism somewhat. I'm more than willing to give CDDV time to get his legs under him. For whatever reason, he was put behind early on with regard to building a staff and building a roster. With a few "surprise" wins and winning the games we should win, I think we're in, but barely. We've got to walk the tightrope and not lose games we definitely should win. And if CDDV can get this team to peak for the B1G tournament and beyond, I like our chances.

  28. My unscientific read on the fanbase is most would have a more negative view on our tourney odds than the actual current odds. I was a little surprised on the optimism in the betting markets, though it was nice to see. Tbd…

  29. One of my favorite Purdue stats. We played them 12 times in soccer. They scored 3 goals. The fewest goals we scored was 3 in a game. They needed 12 games to get a tie against our worst performance.

I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but this program definitely seems broken. We were a Final Four-caliber program. Went to an Elite Eight. Went to a Sweet 16. Were ranked No. 2 in the country. Got a No. 1 seed. Gave the eventual unbeaten NCAA champions their toughest game in the NCAAs. You don't do all that, then go 0-10 in your conference just a couple years later. Or at least you shouldn't. The mass exodus last season was very concerning to me. On the surface, only Garzon seemed like a real loss -- but to have all those players leave when there was PT to be had this year? Makes me wonder what exactly is going on. Maybe CTM is burned out -- I don't know. But this program just isn't right, and no way should we be in the freefall we are now after where we were just a few years back. Wouldn't be surprised at all if she and Scott sit down at the end of the season and decide it's time for both parties to move on.

  32. So true. Innovation or experimentation does not seem to be CTM's strong suite. If you're losing big time, why not try something different? What do we have to lose at this point? We'll never know the details, but this locker room must be witnessing one of the greatest morale crashes of all time.

I know nothing but for some reason I believe Moren will resign at the end of the year. In my opinion she is burned out and doesn't seem happy. I hope I am wrong.

She plays makalusky at the 4 who’s only attribute is to stand on the corner and hope to get an open kick out, play 2 of the bigger girls, Odessa is capable of mid range jumpers and deeper, try something new you’re 0-9

Game to watch tonight is Central Connecticut State @ Wagner. The line has moved 3 points in the last 2 hours. I mean besides me, and maybe a parent with a gambling problem, who the hell is betting on this game. I’m gonna be watching this one like a Rottweiler guarding a pork chop. One bad TO, one missed box out, straight to the feds I go lol

  39. Shout out to Tucker. I have referred to him as looking like a rec league guy but kudos to his performance against PU. He played with great intensity, there were buckets that he seemingly was as fired up as if we just won the natty, had 10 boards, etc etc. Great effort (aside from the late one and one misses) and game!!

  43. Bargesser had her an ugly looking shot but always did contribute. Defensively was fierce, and could make some plays. One of her best games was when we beat Caitlin Clark’s highly ranked games at home. With this roster she’d never seen the bench.

  46. Z continues out and it will probably silently continue from game to game. After 1 down 9x4=36 point loss. Is L. B. (one of the leaders on this team…and her absence was one of the excuses for last year’s difficulties) going to be good enough to start next year? pending what players return for 2026-2027. Take 3 players off this IU Ladies roster and replace them with Bargesser (who has improved and statistically proves it) Garzon, and Meister (and maybe even LaMendola)….IU Ladies would have more than 0 big ten wins. Losing the noted players that were already in the IU Ladies system for a number of years….yes there was going to be a drop off but the loss of these players to the transfer portal is proving out to be devastating to this IU Ladies basketball season.
