They still won't be as lucrative as the Big Ten or the SEC, but they want to secure themselves as the #3 conference. Rico 1 Quote

I don't think the talks are very preliminary at all and definitely not vapor. If I was to bet, I would say at least two (UW and Oregon) will be leaving for the BIG very, very soon. FSU makes some sense. I guess Clemson to a degree too. Grab UNC and Miami if you are getting a south division. idk, but it appears this is the plans to have a division on each every coast. Quote

Loaded Chicken Sandwich Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Conference realignment will ruin college sports. Period. Moves made by greed. It's not about trying to make a better product. Only greed. Greed will kill it. cthomas, Scotty R and Tom White 3 Quote
RaceToTheTop Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 If the Big Ten doesn't get Washington and Oregon, it will be because of USC. USC is very against western expansion as they feel that bringing in other west coast teams hurts their LA recruiting market. HoosierHoopster and lillurk 2 Quote

It makes more money in the short term with no regard for the sustainability of the sports. If the schools on the West coast couldn't make a viable conference, how are USC and Rutgers in the same league gonna survive? Spoiler alert, they aren't. 'Super conferences' are stupid and will fail. That very well may be what happens. Change is inevitable. Not always for the better. These changes are reactions to the failed NCAA, the rise of student-athletes not being taken to the cleaners, sports marketing, and television/cable/streaming, and cheating for $$$$. Just looking at the stupidity of the seeding for the football bowl championship playoffs year after year gives me heartburn. Only the Alabamas and OSUs like that crap. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Good luck to the confederation of universities (at the top and those that don't have $$$$ that are being left behind) that are trying something...anything to fix what is broken. It is and will be a mess. J34 and str8baller 2 Quote
