The body language from the coaches in the last 10 minutes of that game was something.  DeVries couldn’t get that game over quick enough.  First guy on the bench was very demonstrative. Between Sisley, and Conerway, some chemistry stuff has been going on with this group/staff.  Not as dramatic as other teams, but sine stuff.  
 

How are we gonna win recruiting battles in portal without overpaying now?  Lol.  Pay more to pay less later.  We screwed up so badly by not recruiting a winning roster in year 1.

Trying to find optimism in this, the “best recruiting class in Purdue history” won’t have the opportunity to get a winning record against IU

I don't think it will be the death sentence some make it out to be, but it won't be easy. It would be nice if this program had anything resembling a positive culture or a foundation. Right now it's a truck-stop program in flyover country.

We could’ve easily dealt with the personnel issue…he’s certainly leaned from it with the culture and kids he’s recruited at Houston. HE WAS ON PROBATION AT OKLAHOMA. We inherited that. Oklahoma…home of Barry Switzer and Mark Stoops…was where he was first caught and put on probation. Not only would other schools have done what IU did, but EVERY school not as pious as Oklahoma (so all of them) would’ve done it. That’s how stupid Simpson was.

It’s not wrong. We self reported lmao. It wasn’t the NCAA. It had everything to do with us.  Also, no other school would’ve done what we did. We know this because most schools were doing far worse and didn’t do anything. Phone calls is such a minor rule it shortly became legal after all this.

Yep.  The whole situation was 100% on Sampson - not on IU for not covering it up.

There are many factors in the disintegration of IU basketball and Sampson's cheating butt is but one of them.

My last comment because this could go on all night.

One school. A school at that time who cared much more about their football program. Certainly, Duke, UNC, Louisville, UK and all the other basketball blue bloods wouldn’t. We did, and we’ve paid for it for 20 years. Again, I said 99% of schools would never self report and therefore you or I, never hear of this and we are winning championships. That is a fact. This is phone calls. Flipping phone calls. Not fake classes, not hookers, not illegally paying players, but phone calls. I and a lot of others see things differently, and it continues to get clearer as the years go by and we hear of all the other problems - including Blue Bloods - and issues they were protecting at this time. But phone calls. Sorry,  I’m winning championships.

NW played the way DeVries said we’d play this year.   They were locked in, hustling, battling, quick twitch, together.  They zapped our offense totally in the second half by being more engaged at each spot all the time.

I’m still kind of surprised we lost that game. We literally had to keep the offense humming for 40min vs a poor defensive team, and we turned in that performance?  
 

I didn’t expect to beat Purdue or necessarily make the tourney, but that was just a bad way to go out.

Crazy thing is, if we beat Northwestern both times, we’re probably easily in the tournament, not even in Dayton, without needing to beat Purdue today. The bubble is extremely weak. It was all right there for the taking.
