Popular Post Shooter Posted January 28 Popular Post Posted January 28 I was there last night... few major takeaways: 1. First real Assembly Hall crowd of the season 2. Conor Enright player of the game. Outstanding defense, don't know how he still had the legs to make that late 3 3. We are still terrible at closing out games. Came very closing to choking that away. Late game execution needs to get way better Whoozhers, LockdownD, BtownStrength and 14 others 17 Quote

We ask some dudes to play a bunch of minutes. Quote

We are also highly reluctant on good execution since we can't really beat anyone off the dribble (especially with Conerway out). But I don't have a good explanation for good free throw shooters missing three straight front end of 1 and 1s. That was disgusting. IUCrazy2 and ebridges24 2 Quote
Whoozhers Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hummel i can put up with. The lead announcer though..... I couldn't tell if it was a man or women by the voice. Not my favorite. Jeff Flabjohns, OliviaPope40 and FortWayneHoosier 3 Quote

I don’t have a problem with him. He’s generally solid. I think him and Woody might have had words or something at some point because he seemed awfully negative towards IU the last couple of years. I thought he was pretty even-handed last night. 8bucks 1 Quote

I don't like him doing IU-Purdue games. But outside of that I think Hummel just knows ball, and was understandably confused / disgusted by the product Woodson put out. Quote
Alford Bailey Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Always good to get the W against little brother. We aren’t very good but rose to the occasion against our rival with the champs in the house. Curious to see if the boilers are in free fall or if Painter can right the ship. Quote
HoosierHoopster Posted January 28 Posted January 28 I'm wondering if maybe we're undervaluing the W (and Rutgers W) a bit without considering the overall impact of Dorn's role change. So it's only recent and a small sample size, but Dorn to the starters and his scoring role change looks at this point to me like it may be impacting our scoring ability (late game notwithstanding) in a way that changes the team's potential. Said it above but as a 2-man show on offense with Wilk and Tucker B1G teams have been largely shutting us down because of lack of additional scoring impact particularly with the starters. Recent games -- Dorn: 6 shots in 28 min vs MSU, for 6 points. 2 shots total in 19 min vs Iowa. 9 shots against Mich. in 29 min scoring 14. 11 shots w/5-5 FTs against Rutgers in 36 min for 23 points. 11 shots and 2-2 FTs against PU in 31:41 for 18 points. Yes it's a small sample size and probably still a wait and see, but I think it's possible we're somewhat undervaluing the team based on past results before Dorn's role change. 68Hoosier, Alford Bailey, Home Jersey and 3 others 6 Quote
Hoosier DaDa Posted January 28 Posted January 28 The coach, the players and The Hall needed this win so bad. I Googled how we got the win and here was the result. Curt Cignetti was in The Hall. 68Hoosier, tkbbn, OliviaPope40 and 1 other 2 2 Quote

It was a practice leading up to a Monday night game at Purdue in early 1991. The spectacular thing about that rant is the team was 14-1 and #3 in the country. Much like Cig, absolutely no complacency. oh, and they won 65-62 “up there at Purdue” and they didn’t end up going .500 in the league that year. They went 15-3 str8baller and Pagoda 1 1 Quote
